Recent Dementia Studies

A study by B. Shim and colleagues at Duke University concluded: "Spousal caregivers of people with dementia can be encouraged toward more positive caregiving experiences through empathy-building interventions and enhanced understanding and acceptance of changes in the care recipient. T. Ijmker and colleagues at the University Medical Center presented findings that indicate decreased executive function plays an important role in increased gait variability in dementia patients; a fact that should be considered when designing fall risk interventions for this population.
