Right at Home Announces 2008 RightCare Award Winner
Local Caregiver Deemed “Angel of Mercy” in Michigan Community
Omaha, Nebraska (October 22, 2008) – Today, Right at Home, a leading national provider of in-home companion and personal care to seniors and others, announced it has chosen caregiver, Ella Andrews of Right at Home in Oakland County, Michigan as the2008 RightCare Award winner for exemplifying the company’s mission to improve the quality of life of those they serve. Allen Hager, founder and president of Right at Home, presented Andrews with a check for $5,000 as a reward for her outstanding skills and performance as a caregiver at the company’s annual convention this week in Omaha, Nebraska.
“It is evident from the numerous client testimonials that we received that Ella is a passionate, dedicated caregiver committed to improving the lives of others,” said Hager. “Time and time again, Ella’s clients have raved about her abilities and skills, setting the standard for what all caregivers should strive for and achieve in their daily interactions. We are honored to present Ella with this deserving award.”
More than 82 nominations from 50 offices were submitted for the 2008 RightCare Award. A committee of judges from Family Caregiver Alliance and the National Family Caregivers Association selected a total of 10 semifinalists. Brian Petranick, chief operating officer of Right at Home, and Hager evaluated finalists for the award on the basis of several criteria, including: demonstration of empathy and compassion toward those receiving care, encouragement of growth and development of care giving recipients, performing caring duties, ongoing participation in education programs, and possessing knowledge of the caregiving field.
“Right at Home is truly blessed with an outstanding group of caregivers. It was certainly a challenge to narrow down the winners, especially when so many seen were deserving of the award,” said Eboni Green of the National Family Caregivers Association.
Jeff and Robert Welsh, owners of Right at Home in Oakland County Michigan, hired Andrews in July 2004. Today, the owners could not be more proud of her achievements and the notoriety that she has received.
“Ella possesses a powerful desire to raise the quality of life for each of our clients by giving them a purpose when some may have lost all hope,” said Jeff. “She is truly a kindhearted, patient, spirited, gentle and skilled caregiver who has always strived to not only meet, but exceed the aspirations of her clients.
