In-Home Senior Care Needs Met by Right at Home in Omaha, Nebraska
OMAHA, Nebraska — Right at Home is growing rapidly to meet a growing need for in-home care experienced by both senior citizens and their families.
Many families are turning to Right at Home to provide care and assistance to adults who need a helping hand. The service is designed for people who struggle with one or more everyday activities, but do not require medical or physical care rising to the level of a nursing home or assisted living.
In-home care is an especially appealing solution for independent seniors who are recovering from illness or surgery, who have disabilities that make then unable to do household activities, who have lost a spouse or who live a distance from their adult children.
“The trend of in-home care has been around for a little while, but its something the majority of the public is just beginning to realize exists,” said Right at Home founder Allen Hager. “More and more people are seeking out a level of care that provides them support in daily activities, without the requirement that they leave their homes. For these people, assisted living facilities and nursing homes are either above the level of care they need or long-term solutions to temporary setbacks such as illness or surgery.”
In-home care by Right at Home includes many of the basic activities of daily living. Caregivers may prepare meals, provide medication reminders, perform household chores, provide transportation around town, do shopping, run errands, help with light exercise, or offer companionship and conversation.
“Government figures have shown that millions of older Americans have difficulty carrying out one or more daily or household activities,” said Hager. “By giving these individuals assistance to complete these tasks, they are able to maintain their lifestyles in their own homes. For most people, remaining in their home is a source of independence, comfort and security.”
One of the benefits of in-home senior care is the ability to tailor the amount of the care to the needs of the individual. Right at Home’s care options range from a few hours a week to around-the-clock companionship. Right at Home provides individual needs assessments to determine how much and in which areas assistance is necessary. The length of care is also flexible, from short-term situations to ongoing assistance.
The growing demand for in-home senior care also is a result of the increase in the number of adults who are caring for an aging parent. Hager said as many as one in every four households are involved with caregiving for an aging parent or adult. Today’s busy adults can find “parenting” a parent a daunting task.
“People want to care for their parents, but with the demands of a job and their own families, finding the time an aging parent requires is difficult and stressful,” said Hager. “With Right at Home care providers; adult children can still participate in their parents’ care, but on a more manageable level. And for adults who live some distance from their parents, in-home care provides a sense of security. They know their parents are getting the help they need and that someone is looking after their wellbeing.”
Right at Home offers in-home supportive care and assistance to seniors and other adults to help them continue to live independently. Right at Home directly employs all direct care provider staff, is bonded and insured, and carefully pre-screens all caregivers prior to their entering a client’s home. All ongoing care is monitored and supervised by local independent owners. Some offices provide medical home healthcare, as well. Right at Home’s home office is based in Omaha, Neb., with franchise offices throughout the United States. For more information on Right at Home, visit the company’s Web site at www.rightathome.net.
