- 74% of family caregivers have been employed while caring for an older adult friend or relative
- 89% of family caregivers provide care for a relative, most commonly for their mother (36%)
- 20% say their care recipient lives with them, and 51% say they live within 20 minutes of their loved one
- 16% are distance caregivers, meaning their care receiver lives an hour or more away
- 64% of employed family caregivers go in late, leave early, or take time off
- 17% of employed family caregivers take a leave of absence to provide caregiving
- 9% of employed family caregivers reduce their work hours to allow for caregiving responsibilities
- 6% of employed family caregivers give up work entirely to caregive on a full time basis
- 5% of employed family caregivers turn down a promotion because of caregiving responsibilities
