Temporary Care

Hattie had always been active. She went for long runs years before jogging was popular. She had even hiked part of the Appalachian Trail. And she still chased her toddler grandson around the living room whenever her daughter and son-in-law were in town. But Hattie started to have hip pain that worsened with time. Her doctor suggested a hip replacement. Hattie didn’t hesitate. However, there was no one within driving distance who was able to help Hattie with her needs during her recovery. Hattie and her daughter consulted with Right at Home, deciding to have a caregiver come to the house for the first three weeks after Hattie’s surgery. The procedure went off without a hitch and after a few weeks, Hattie was back on her feet and felt decades younger.

While she was recovering, Right at Home provided numerous companionship and homemaking services to Hattie, including:

  • Transportation
  • Bringing in newspaper/mail
  • Companionship
  • Light housekeeping
  • Grocery shopping
  • Cooking
  • Washing dishes
  • Laundry services
  • Running errands
  • Range of motion exercises

Testimonial

Dear Cathy, I would like to take this opportunity to express our deep appreciation for the excellent care given by you and your staff for my aunt while she was so ill.  I could not have been able to keep her a home as she wanted if it were not for your help with her personal care, her contact with her physician, and her end of life care.  My father who is 85  took care of her for almost 12 years and your staff was so considerate of his needs and feelings concerning her care, not to mention how carefully they kept an eye on him as well.  I have told everyone I know who have a need for your services how excellent your staff was with my aunt and I have also made the referral staff here at St. Mary's hospital aware of your company and services.  If there is ever anything that I can do for you, please do not hesistate to call me.   I will always remember the caring and compassionate care that you and your staff brought into our lives.  May God bless you, your company, and all your staff for your loving devotion to the people who need you so much.  Sincerely

Lois Carlson
