Who We Are
Right at Home of Mt Diablo was started by Joyce and Jim Newport in 2009. They started their agency out of a desire to serve their local community and to enjoy a work life that really meant something in people's lives. They saw first-hand that families wanted to stay together and seniors wanted to stay in their homes, but might have medical conditions that made it difficult. Joyce and Jim knew that with a little help, most of these people could lead healthy, happy lives in their own homes. Being longtime Bay Area residents (Joyce was born and raised inj San Francisco), they opened their office Pleasant Hill, near Joyce’s parents’ Walnut Creek home. In order to better serve their clients, they moved to a larger office in Walnut Creek in July, 2011.
Joyce and Jim pride themselves in being responsive, professional and trustworthy. All care is overseen by a care management staff that ensures that caregivers are performing their duties. They use TELEPHONY – a web-based timecard system to ensure that caregivers arrive on time. Even if a caregiver did not arrive in the middle of the night, the TELEPHONY timecard system electronically alerts Right at Home supervisors so that they can proactively work with the client and their family. Right at Home is one of only a few agencies in the Central Contra Costa area that uses a system to ensure that they are always there as promised.
Being part of our local community, is one of the aspects of home care that attracted Joyce and Jim to start their agency. Jim is an active member of the Lamorinda Rotary Club. Right at Home is a member of the Danville, Walnut Creek, Concord, Lafayette and Pleasant Hill Chambers of Commerce. Jim serves as a Chamber Ambassador with the Danville Area Chamber, and Joyce serves as Ambassador with the Pleasant Hill Chamber. Joyce and Jim reside in the East Bay with their two miniature long-hair dachshunds, Scotia and Seamus.
Right at Home set my mind at ease 100% considering the specifics of the crisis mode in the beginning. Working with Right at Home meant that I did not have to go to the hospital. They covered all the bases and the caregiver staff was professional.
