Virtual Dementia Training by Right at Home Provides Life Changing Experience
January 27, 2012
On January 13 and 17, 2012, Right at Home of Northern Colorado had over 50 participants in its licensed Vitual Dementia Tour (VDT) training program at The Hillcrest in Loveland. Professional and Family Caregivers alike chose to experience what it is like to have dementia. It made a significant impact even on those who see dementia sufferers every day. Following her Tour, Jan Edwards RN, Clinical Director of Banner Home Health, wrote this follow up message to Lisa Loehr, the Director of Community Relations for Right at Home: "I just experienced the Virtual Dementia Tour at the Hillcrest. Suffice it to say it was a life changing experience for me." Because of the value this experience has given her, she requested that the Virtual Dementia Tour be brought to her staff. On March 1st and 2nd, over 30 Banner Home Care employees participated in the training with raving reviews and valuable insights regarding their care of dementia clients.
Right at Home offers this training program regularly in the Northern Colorado community at no charge. Scott Beethe, owner of Right at Home of Northern Colorado, stated "We have been providing this training to our caregivers and others in Northern Colorado for the past year and a half because we believe we can improve the quality of life for those with dementia. When we discovered this patented training program designed by PK Beville, we knew it was an experience that Right at Home needed to bring to Northern Colorado."
