RAH Client Wishes To Share His Advice on Receiving Care
May 11, 2011
For well over the past year, Mr. Larry Larsen required Right at Home's services , and today he no longer requires a caregiver to provide the assistance he previously needed.
"It has been just great," Mr. Larsen said, "I wanted to thank you (Team Right at Home) for providing me with such great service."
Mr. Larsen, who like many seniors, was required care until he was able to fully manage his affairs and care on his own; he is now very excited to be able to take the next step in the process, now having regained his total independence.
Right at Home's President Dan Parker said, "We are truly happy for Mr. Larsen. It gives our entire care team great pleasure to know that we have helped make a difference in his life."
Mr. Larsen wished to provide advice for those seniors and their families who may be initially resistant to receiving any help or caring aid. "The importance is in knowing that someone truly cares about you and knowing what time they will be there for you."
Mr. Larsen continued, "When you may first need someone - there are things that you can't do or maybe can do. The caregiver is able then to help you with the things that you can't do - or don't like to do. The wonderful thing about having a caregiver is that they offer their client hope. They want you to get better and improve - and encourage you to be able to do more. They instill hope to the client in the process, because without hope - there is no getting better."
Now an advocate for in home care, Mr. Larsen wanted to let others know of the importance and skills of the caregivers. "They truly watch out for you," he replied, "they really care."
He remarked, "Sure, if you've never had someone before as a caregiver you may have some misconceptions about it - but they make sure that you are well taken care of, and for me it was making sure my medications were taken, or doing my housekeeping, or getting me up and about."
Mr. Larsen happily added, "Having a caregiver takes the worry and the concern out of your life. That's what my Right at Home caregivers did for me."
