Right at Home Caregivers Receive Valuable Alzheimer’s Training

(Sacramento, CA) - Right at Home of Sacramento/Yolo has announced today that they are continuing their course “Caring for Someone With Alzheimer’s Disease” for their caregiving staff monthly.

“We feel the value of continued support and memory care training of our care team has been a tremendous asset,” explained company President Dan Parker, “As caregivers it is important for us to learn and adapt to new ways to relate to the patient or client with Alzheimer’s Disease.”

The Right at Home care team offers professional and experienced memory caregiving staff who can assist both the families and the individual affected with memory loss for hourly or overnight care.

“Many families need additional caregiving support at home – if even for overnight 12 hour awake shifts,” stated Parker. “Caring for someone with Alzheimer’s Disease can be very challenging for family, especially for families contending with Sundowner’s Syndrome and their loved one staying awake throughout the night.”

Parker continued: “As the disease progresses, different areas of the brain are affected. People in mid to late stages of Alzheimer’s may have difficulty expressing their needs in words, and may be less able to reason and may be unaware of what is appropriate. With our qualified caregiver training – our Right at Home care team can be aware and properly trained to find solutions that can be applied directly to their caregiving situation.”

Topics covered during the “Caring for Someone With Alzheimer’s Disease” include, but are not limited to: Core principles in Alzheimer’s care; Flexibility and keys to caregiver well-being; Changes that may occur in mid-to-late stages of Alzheimer’s Disease;  Activities; Dealing with Alzheimer’s Aggression; Use of Language and other forms of communicating; Incontinence and Personal Care Needs; and Balancing the Day.

Each successful graduate of the Caregiver Training receives a certificate from Right at Home and are then able to support and care for future Right at Home clients in need of particular memory care.

“It is an important element to our care team,” replied Parker, “We are committed to meet the rapidly growing need for appropriate assessment, care, support, and assistance for memory impaired individuals and their families.”

The Alzheimer’s Training course will be offered continually each month for all newly hired staff of Right at Home and the course will be coorinated by MediFecta – Healthcare Training.
