What does Meals on Wheels by ACC do?

Meals on Wheels by ACC serves seniors 60 years of age or better throughout Sacramento County with nutritious meals to help maintain their independence. The menu is developed by a licensed dietitian to ensure that each meal provides 1/3 of the Daily Recommended Intake of calories, protein, vitamins and minerals to seniors, 5 days per week, 250-days a year.

We provide:

  • Home-delivered hot and frozen meals to homebound seniors
  • Hot noontime meals for mobile seniors at 22 café sites throughout Sacramento County
  • Recreational and social activities at the café sites
  • Socialization and safety services
  • Nutrition education and information

Home-Delivered Meals

Eligible seniors who are homebound and need assistance may receive hot or frozen home-delivered meals. Hot meals are delivered daily, Monday through Friday, while frozen meal packages are delivered once per week to seniors who are more able to heat meals in the microwave or oven without assistance. Seniors receiving home-delivered meals must meet certain eligibility criteria that are determined through a home visit and assessment.

All Seasons Cafés

Seniors who want to get out can enjoy hot noontime meals at 22 All Seasons Café sites throughout Sacramento County. At the cafés, seniors can meet over lunch and participate in café activities, such as card games or bingo. The only eligibility criterion for café meals is that participants be 60 years of age or better.

The Meals on Wheels by ACC office operates from 7:30AM until 4:00PM Monday through Friday.
