2022 Mid-Atlantic Region Caregiver of the Year

Congratulations to Sarah Williams on her recognition of delivering extraordinary care to clients and their families.

Sarah Williams Earns Recognition as 2022 Mid-Atlantic Region Caregiver of the Year

“Sarah is a star caregiver who naturally personifies our core values of individualism, enthusiasm and collaboration,” said Phill Turner, Right at Home office owner. “Shortly after Sarah joined our team, she started providing care to a client with mental disabilities. Her immediate ability to understand our client’s needs helped him feel comfortable with our care. She even collaborated with our client’s sister to ensure he was taking his medications, eating well and socializing with his peers.”

Nadai Alwan, Right at Home’s Employee Recruiting Coordinator, meets with potential caregivers every day, but Sarah stood out right away.

“When I first met her, I loved her fun nature, her loud laughter and her smile,” said Alwan. “And now six years later, she’s never lost her smile. Sarah’s enthusiasm, love of life and individualism mesh so well with our clients. She is so empathetic, compassionate and attentive to our clients’ well-being.”

Sarah’s co-workers aren’t the only ones boasting her praises. According to Right at Home Client Care Coordinator, Ameena Barnett, “We have clients who ask if Sarah is stopping by tomorrow. They tell me Sarah really cares for them and provides them with peace of mind because of how well she takes care of their loved ones.”

Sarah has been with Right at Home for six years, working as a caregiver in Fairfax, Virginia, for office owner Phill Turner. Her compassion, selflessness and willingness to go above and beyond have made her a valued member of Right at Home and a beloved caregiver for seniors in her community.

Honoring Our Caregivers

National and Regional Caregivers of the Year are the highest honors awarded by Right at Home. Caregivers are nominated for their exemplary commitment to making a difference in the lives of their clients and teams. The winners are selected by a committee that includes Right at Home representatives and community professionals from outside health care, senior care and caregiving organizations. The award is presented annually during the organization’s conference.

What does it mean to be a caregiver?

“There’s really no task too big or inconvenient that I wouldn’t do to help my clients,” says Adams. “It may be something small to me, but to them it can be very meaningful. Aging can be hard when you can no longer do things for yourself. I like helping others maintain their dignity, even when things get tough.”
