2022 Northeast Region Caregiver of the Year
Congratulations to Tanya Todd on her recognition of delivering extraordinary care to clients and their families.
Tanya Todd Conquered Hurricane Ida and COVID-19 and Earned 2022 Northeast Region Caregiver of the Year
Last fall, the Eastern Seaboard experienced the effects of Hurricane Ida including widespread power outages, flooding and road closures. But that didn’t stop Tanya Todd from going to work and making a difference.
“Tanya only missed one day of work even though she lost both her car and her home because of the hurricane,” said Janet Kuebler, Right at Home office owner. “She had to move her family into a hotel, but she insisted that our clients needed her to be there for them.
“One of the families we serve had gone through a number of agencies and caregivers in an attempt to find care for their mother. When they called us, we assigned Tanya to care for their mother and Tanya had an immediate, positive impact. The family explained how their mother was often not happy to see others in her home, but she was happy to see Tanya. She was not just a caregiver to this family, she was a friend to them.”
In addition to dealing with the effects Hurricane Ida had on her family, Tanya also contracted COVID-19. She recovered and continued to serve both seniors and her peers. According to Heather Kuebler, Right at Home Associate Development Director, “Tanya never brings up what she’s been through. She never complains. She just shows up with a smile, always has a positive impact, and not just for our clients, but as a role model for other caregivers as well. Her spirit is unshakeable. Tanya is always able to take a genuinely positive perspective no matter the circumstance.”
Tayna has been with Right at Home for more than three years, working as a caregiver in Hillsborough, New Jersey, for office owners Janet and Carl Kuebler. Tanya’s compassion, selflessness and willingness to go above and beyond have made her a valued member of Right at Home and a beloved caregiver for seniors in her community.
Honoring Our Caregivers
National and Regional Caregivers of the Year are the highest honors awarded by Right at Home. Caregivers are nominated for their exemplary commitment to making a difference in the lives of their clients and teams. The winners are selected by a committee that includes Right at Home representatives and community professionals from other health care, senior care and caregiving organizations.
