About our Home Care Agency & Mission
Jay Kenney, a Medford native, and Rosaleen Doherty, originally a New York native, settled North of Boston in 1995 to start their married life. Both were business professionals heavily involved in the “dot-com” world of the 1990’s and lived to experience the real highs and lows of American business life during that time. In a moment of “what’s next” after the tragedy of 9/11, Jay and Rosaleen started to reassess what type of life they wanted together and for their young family. The values they wanted to live were close family, close community and service. The Kenney family has been operating Right at Home for over two decades.
Community Involvement & Leadership
Right at Home is committed to staying close to the local community. Rosaleen is the past president of North Shore Women in Business and of the Rotary Club of Marblehead Harbor. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Council for Home Care Aide Services.

In 2020, the Kenney Family was awarded the Allen Hager Right Spirit Award, which recognizes an outstanding organization within the RIght at Home system for excellence and commitment to seniors. Because this was during the pandemic, it was extra special as Right at Home worked tirelessly to bring their clients the care they needed during this difficult time.
In recent years - Right at Home has been awarded multiple Caring Star awards from Caring.com and multiple Employer of Choice awards through Activated Insights, an industry ratings company. The award they are most proud of is that they were given Great Places to Work certification for 2024 and 2025. This award is hard won because the Kenney’s believe that they don’t just change the lives of their clients, they change the lives of their employees every day.

Advocacy & Awareness Initiatives
Right at Home helped establish the Parkinson’s Foundation Moving Day fundraising walk in 2014 at Arteseni Park in Brighton. In 2024, they helped start the first Moving Day in Portland, Maine. Gabrielle Kenney does grassroots work with the Alzheimer's Association and she is on the committee for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Boston. Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease cures are close to the heart of the Kenney Family, because they have lost relatives to these diseases and they currently have family members who have these conditions today.
We are also Authorized VA Home Care Providers through the VA home care program in Massachusetts and Maine, including the Aid and Attendance program.
Right at Home’s mission is “to improve the quality of life for those we serve,” and expanding our mission to serve others around the world is truly a pleasure. We support many organizations that help people live independently.

Free Wheelchair Mission
Globally, an estimated 70 million people with disabilities have no access to a wheelchair. Those who cannot walk must crawl or be carried to their destination. In collaboration with a network of like-minded partners, Free Wheelchair Mission has distributed more than 1 million wheelchairs to people with disabilities in 93 developing countries around the world, providing renewed dignity, independence and hope through the gift of mobility, at no cost to the recipient.
As an organization, our work with Free Wheelchair Mission began in 2016 as we looked for a partner that would help us further our mission of improving lives worldwide. To date, our team’s efforts have raised more than $400,000 that has funded over 5,000 wheelchairs, which were distributed through life-changing Vision Trips to Vietnam, Ecuador and Costa Rica.

Josiah’s House
Over half of the children living in the Dominican Republic live below the poverty line and can be found on the streets in at-risk surroundings in order to make money. Josiah’s House runs family-style homes that provide vulnerable boys and girls with the basic necessities, education, life skills, and family home atmosphere needed to succeed.
Recently, 70 Right at Home offices came together to support Josiah’s House by supplying everyday items for the children of Josiah’s House. The group delivered suitcases full of clothing, personal hygiene items, toys, and other supplies.
