Caregiver Appreciation

Our caregivers are the important individuals who really impact our clients' lives. We want to show them our appreciation by honoring them and the hard work they put in.

  • Reliable, dependable, and communicative
  • Willing to do more than what is expected

“Our compassionate team of caregivers and office members work tirelessly to care for clients and provide the highest level quality of care in everything they do." - owner, Steve Gettins

February Caregiver of the Month

Musawa Akoma

Meet Musawa Akoma, Caregiver of the month February 2025. Musawa joined Right at Home in September 2023 as a part-time caregiver working weekends. Since that time, Musawa has earned trust and formed a special bond with our client, a respected veteran.

Recently, Musawa took some time to spend with her family. “Kate, when is Musawa coming back? I need her! I miss her! She does everything for me.”, stated client, Dave B. during a recent phone conversation. Musawa has earned this respect by exhibiting compassion and kindness. Her work ethic is second to none.

“I am a giver. I enjoy being around people and like to help.”, explained Musawa when asked what made her to decide to become a caregiver. Musawa’s advise for any new caregiver, “Be kind and be open to requests, but most of all enjoy your time.”

Musawa spends her weekdays as a substitute math teacher. She and her husband, Chiji, have been married for 26 years and enjoy their 3 children, 2 boys and a girl. Musawa proudly explained that her daughter will be graduating from Villanova in May.

In addition to her children, Musawa has 2 pet guinea pigs, Chunnel and Appolo.

Congratulations, Musawa!

January Caregiver of the Month

Stephanie Greif

Meet Stephanie Greif, our January 2025 caregiver of the month.

Stephanie joined our Right at home family in December 2023. She has been faithfully caring for her client since she began employment. Stephanie’s dedication to our client, outstanding attendance and punctuality, and effective communication with the office team are qualities that have earned Stephanie this recognition.

“I left my corporate job to care for my friend’s father. I have always gravitated to the elderly…”, explained Stephanie, “…I so enjoy the communication and trust that is built.”. Stephanie worked for two of our competitors prior to finding her way to Right at Home.

Stephanie devotes all her work time to client, Carolyn P. Five days a week Stephanie and Carolyn spend their time organizing Carolyn’s home, taking walks with “Zowie” the poodle, running errands and going to lunch. Carolyn explained, “I only want Stephanie here. She is very honest and tells it like it is. And Zowie loves all the treats Stephanie gives her.”

In her spare time, Stephanie enjoys sports, dancing and crocheting. During this interview, Stephanie was elated that her favorite team, Philadelphia Eagles, had just won the Superbowl. Stephanie spends most of her time with her dog, Gigit, a Shih Tzu mix.

Stephanie has this advise for all new caregivers. “Ease your way in. Take your time to find out likes, dislikes, and expectations. Be a part of the daily routine, don’t interrupt it.”
Congratulations, Stephanie!

2024 Caregiver of the Year

Kathy Bauer

Kathy began her employment with Right at Home in August 2018. Over the past 6+ years, Kathy has gone above and beyond to consistently demonstrate her compassion and skill. She works as a team player and consistently promotes Right at Home for employment or client services to anyone who expresses the need.

As a caregiver, Kathy has an extreme talent for working with dementia clients. Her patience and ability to maintain calmness is second to none. Kathy has often been our “go to” caregiver for our severe dementia clients who are difficult to staff. Kathy visits several clients and will always step up when needed.

"Kathy does more than required, the house is always spotless when she leaves and it is so nice to have her to provide the respite I need to continue to work outside of the home.”, explained, David R. when asked how Kathy has improved his life. A second client of Kathy’s, stated, “I don’t know what I would do without her. She is a blessing to our lives."

Kathy is admired by the office team for her timely communication relating to schedule changes and changes of condition relating to our clients. “Kathy is always on top of any changes requested by clients and always calls me well in advance to adjust the schedules. She is a huge help to me with her clients.”, stated Jonda Simkins, Scheduling Coordinator. “Right at Home is awesome…”, explained Kathy. “…they listen and resolve issues. The office staff is always there when we need them.”

When asked why do you do what you do, Kathy fondly speaks of caring for her mother. “I really like helping others in need.” Kathy’s advise to be a successful caregiver is simple. “Be a good listener, be patient and show compassion.”

In her spare time, Kathy enjoys spending time with her 7 children, 4 girls and 3 boys. “Bub”, the dog keeps Kathy busy. Bub has a nanny cam so Kathy can speak to him throughout the day.

Congratulations, Kathy, for achieving 2024 Caregiver of the Year!
