The Virtual Dementia Tour® is not a computer-based tour. It is a dementia simulation that was created to teach people the physical and mental challenges of those living with dementia. It is a scientifically proven method designed to build sensitivity and awareness in individuals caring for those with dementia. Learning to create a positive environment for those with dementia can only come from attempting to walk in their shoes. The VDT® offers hope to caregivers, providing tips and tools necessary to create an environment that supports the needs of those with the disease.
Right at Home is confident that the VDT will provide you with a greater sense of the struggle people with dementia feel on a daily basis.
"We are very excited to conduct the Virtual Dementia Tour throughout the Charleston area. I was profoundly moved by the tour and truly feel it provides a glimpse into what those with dementia go through on a daily basis. We have found that both professional caregivers and family members will gain a deeper understanding of the confusion, challenges and overall disorientation those suffering with dementia face. This knowledge allows them to have more empathy and patience when caring for someone with dementia and this will ultimately result in better care for the client or family member."
- Matthew Minotti, Owner of Right at Home Charleston on the Virtual Dementia Tour
