Right at Home Lewisville

Right at Home Lewisville Owner Michelle Rankine, PhD

Michelle Rankine’s path into the home care industry as the owner of Right at Home in Lewisville, TX, began with her brother’s life-altering accident. This experience highlighted the challenges families face when caring for loved ones during difficult times, sparking her desire to make a meaningful impact in the lives of others, particularly adults in need of care.

Over the past decade, Michelle's commitment to home care has expanded beyond her initial inspiration. In addition to running her business, she has been personally involved in the care of her father, stepfather, and other family members, navigating various stages of health, from recovery and rehabilitation to end-of-life care. These personal experiences deepened her understanding of the profound benefits of home care and reinforced her belief that it should be delivered with dignity, compassion, and respect.

Michelle’s work has shown her that home care offers more than just physical assistance—it nurtures emotional well-being, providing clients with the comfort and security of remaining in their homes. Through her family’s experiences, she has learned the importance of clear communication, flexibility, and personalized care plans to address each individual’s unique needs.

At Right at Home, Michelle has built a team of caregivers who share her values of empathy, professionalism, and kindness. She believes that caregiving is not only about addressing physical needs but also about offering companionship and emotional support, ensuring that every client is treated with the same respect and dignity she would want for her own loved ones.

Michelle’s decade-long journey in home care, from her brother’s accident to her involvement in her family’s end-of-life care, has only deepened her passion for supporting others through challenging moments with compassion and care.

"I am able to get to know peoples' life stories and able to make a difference in their lives. It's an honor to meet so many people and to help them maintain their independence."

Our Mission

Put simply, our mission is to improve the quality of life for those we serve. Of course, we recognize that everyone’s idea of “quality of life” is different, which is why it’s so important to us to make you an active part of your own care plan. We want you to be in the driver’s seat regardless of any limitations or challenges you’re facing.

Most of all, we believe aging isn’t just about staying healthy, safe and independent. It’s also about living well.

2024 Free Wheelchair Mission Kenya Assembly of Wheelchair with One Person in a Wheelchair

Free Wheelchair Mission – Kenya

In 2024, I had the privilege of participating in a life-changing mission trip to Kenya with Free Wheelchair Mission. This experience allowed me to contribute to an incredible cause and reminded me of the global impact of caregiving. During the trip, I was part of a team that built and delivered wheelchairs to individuals in need, improving their mobility and quality of life.

Representing Right at Home, I was proud to be part of a community dedicated to making a difference globally. Witnessing the profound impact of a simple wheelchair on someone's life reinforced my belief in the importance of caregiving and service beyond borders. This mission strengthened my commitment to improving lives and inspired me to continue my work in home care with even greater purpose.

Empowering Lives Through Mobility

In March 2023, Right at Home partnered with Free Wheelchair Mission to provide wheelchairs to those in need in Kenya, giving the gift of mobility and hope. Michelle's commitment to the effort shone brightly while the Right at Home team worked tirelessly to help individuals move out of the shadows of limitation and to embrace the horizon of possibilities. Together, we are restoring dignity, hope, and the ability to connect and contribute. Our journey began in 2015, and since then, the Right at Home community has raised over $94,000, providing 1,150 wheelchairs to people in need across the globe.

Our Philanthropies

Right at Home’s mission is “to improve the quality of life for those we serve,” and expanding our mission to serve others around the world is truly a pleasure. We support many organizations that help people live independently.

Free Wheelchair Mission

Globally, an estimated 70 million people with disabilities have no access to a wheelchair. Those who cannot walk must crawl or be carried to their destination. In collaboration with a network of like-minded partners, Free Wheelchair Mission has distributed more than 1 million wheelchairs to people with disabilities in 93 developing countries around the world, providing renewed dignity, independence and hope through the gift of mobility, at no cost to the recipient.

As an organization, our work with Free Wheelchair Mission began in 2016 as we looked for a partner that would help us further our mission of improving lives worldwide. To date, our team’s efforts have raised more than $400,000 that has funded over 5,000 wheelchairs, which were distributed through life-changing Vision Trips to Vietnam, Ecuador and Costa Rica.

Josiah’s House

Over half of the children living in the Dominican Republic live below the poverty line and can be found on the streets in at-risk surroundings in order to make money. Josiah’s House runs family-style homes that provide vulnerable boys and girls with the basic necessities, education, life skills, and family home atmosphere needed to succeed.

Recently, 70 Right at Home offices came together to support Josiah’s House by supplying everyday items for the children of Josiah’s House. The group delivered suitcases full of clothing, personal hygiene items, toys, and other supplies.
