- Performs homemaking activities which include (but are not limited to): vacuuming, dusting, sweeping or mopping floors, doing dishes, changing bed linens, doing laundry and cleaning bathrooms.
- Prepares meals and snacks according to instructions. May shop for groceries.
- Provides companionship for the client. This includes accompanying client on walks, trips to social/recreational activities, assistance with hobbies, etc.
- Performs personal care activities that assist the patient with activities of daily living which include (but are not limited to):
- Personal hygiene (assisting to bathroom or in using bedpan, bathing, care of mouth, skin and hair)
- Assist individuals in the areas of maladaptive behavior reduction, self-help skills, and communication skills.
- Maintain complete, accurate, and legible documentation.
- Model appropriate behavior when interacting with individuals and co-workers.
- Protect individual from physical, mental and verbal abuse, and ensure the protection of all human rights of individuals.
- Report incidents adversely affecting the health and safety of the individual to Director of Disabilities as well as filling out an incident report.
- Transporting individual to various places.
- Ensure compliance at all times with the individuals’ Individual Service Plan (ISP).
- Communicate with Director relevant information pertaining to the success of the individual.
- Perform other duties as assigned or directed.
- High school graduate or G.E.D certificate.
- Completion of a written Competency Evaluation.
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English as needed for the job.
- Possess a valid driver's license and have use of an insured automobile or access to adequate transportation for the job.
- Ability to assist individuals with personal care as needed.
- Ability to transport individuals.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- The ability to lift, transfer and help any individual.
- Strong preference is given to caregivers who already meet the criteria to service individuals with Developmental Disabilities, including the following:
- No criminal record or history of abuse (need to pass a BCI background check, we pay for the background check)
- Up to date First Aid Certification
- CPR / First aid certification (we will provide that training free of charge)
- Experience in working with adults with Development DisabilitiesFlexibility in schedule and willingness to travel for shifts is preferred but not required
