In several leading communities around Columbus, Right at Home offers Independent Living with Assistance where Companion, Personal, and Specialized Care Services are provided. In these communities Right at Home has Care Angels on-site throughout the day, and at night as needed, offering services in increments as small as 15 minutes. This allows residents of these communities to live independently, get assistance as needed and age in place. In many cases they can get the same or better care than assisted living at lower cost. The following examples illustrate this model of care and its benefits:

Morning Help Example

Client: Ann, an 85 year old grandmother, struggling with arthritis, and living independently

Care Needed: Ann needs help in the morning dressing and taking medications and safety supervision in the shower several times per week.

Care Provided: Right at Home comes in every morning at 8 a.m. for 30 minutes to help get her up, dressed and ready for the day. They remind her to take her medications and keep a record of medications taken. Then three times a week they also help her with her showers.

Benefit: Ann is able to stay in her home, get care customized for her needs at a cost much lower than having to move to assisted living.

Mild Dementia Example

Client: John is an 87 year old man with dementia. He is getting confused when taking medications, spending more time alone and becoming more sedentary.

Care Needed: Daily medication reminders, daily movement and more personal engagement

Care Provided: Right at Home comes in every morning at 9 a.m. for 15 minutes to ensure he is up, dressed and fed and to remind him to take his medications. Right at Home visits again at 2 p.m. to help him with the RightCare Daily Movement Program and three times a week, Right at Home spends an hour with John on his favorite hobbies of playing the piano and making cookies.

Benefit: John is playing the piano again for the first time in 10 years and is more engaged with family and friends. And John is able to live at home and avoid moving to assisted living or memory care.

Rehab and Recovery Example

Client: Janice is recovering from a bad fall and is having a hard time walking and taking care of herself throughout the day. She hopes to recover quickly over the coming weeks but she and her family are concerned she will fall if left alone while also knowing she needs to be up and moving regularly to remain healthy and strong.

Care Needed: Assistance throughout the day getting up to go the bathroom, preparing food, bathing and moving.

Care Provided: Right at Home visits Janice in the morning to get her up and ready for the day, and then every two hours throughout the day to get her up and moving, assist with her PT exercises, help with toileting, meal preparation and light housekeeping. Right at Home then ensures she is dressed and safely in bed for the night.

Benefit: Janice was able to return home and recover much faster than her family or her doctors expected
