Right At Home, Greater Galveston area is locally owned and operated by Kristen Carlson (pictured left). Prior to opening the Galveston RAH office, Kristen worked for over twelve years in medical management (8 years at the University of Texas Medical Branch and 5 years at the Center of Reproductive Medicine). Prior to moving to Galveston, she worked as a Financial Analyst at First Boston Corp in New York City. Kristen has a bachelor's degree in Sociology and an MBA from University of Houston Clear Lake.
Kristen has lived in Galveston since 1993. Kristen is actively involved in the Rotary Club of Galveston and was named Most Valuable Member in June 2009. She most recently served as President of the club 2017-2018 and served on the Board of Directors from 2009-2012. Kristen also serves as the Treasurer for the Galveston Art League, a non-profit art gallery. Kristen received her accreditation as a "Certified Senior Advisor" from the Society of Certified Senior Advisors in 2010. Kristen has two adult children, Taylor Greenwalt (Creative Services Coordinator for the Galveston Island Convention & Visitor's Bureau) and Sydney Greenwalt (co-owner of a Right at Home office in Round Rock, TX).
Kristen’s aunt, Estelle Greenwalt, was a great source of inspiration for opening the Right at Home office in Galveston. Estelle, a lifelong Galveston resident, was able to live happily at home until her death at the age of 91. Being able to provide safe, exceptional service to enable others like Estelle to stay 'right at home' as they grow older is what RAH Galveston is all about.
Julia Sherrod joined Right at Home in July 2018 and serves as our Office Manager. Julia has over 20 years' experience working with seniors at UTMB in Galveston. Earning her bachelor's degree from the University of Houston Clear Lake and studied Physical Therapy at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, she brings a great deal of experience and education to the team. She is a teacher at heart and enjoys serving as an Office Manager for RAH which offers her lots of opportunities to lead, teach and train caregivers, educate clients, and encourage office staff. Recreationally, she teaches fitness classes, is an involved member at her church leading the tech arts team and enjoys spending time with her husband. Her relaxation time is best spent getting a massage!
Shelley Bishop joined Right at Home in 2015. Born and raised in Texas she started her career in 1999 as the Operations Coordinator for an assisted living and memory care facility. As the Human Resources Director for Right at Home her role involves recruiting qualified and compassionate caregivers to provide the best care to our clients. She enjoys her role in the recruitment process, meeting new caregivers and learning what led them to choose a career with home care. She loves the team she works with as well as the opportunities her job provides to connect with families in need and make a difference in their lives. Outside of work, Shelley enjoys reading, traveling and spending time with her husband, David and their three teenagers.
Kevin Channell joined Right at Home in May 2017. Kevin is a Right Care Manager, primarily responsible for Client sign-ups and business development. Kevin is a graduate of the University of Texas at San Antonio with a BA in Communications. After College he started in the healthcare field as a volunteer at a nursing home. While volunteering he was offered a position as an Admission Director for a Skilled Nursing Facility in Texas City where he worked for two and a half years. He then worked for a local hospice company as a Community Education Coordinator. Kevin is currently on the board of Community Assistance Program of Galveston and on the Senior Seaside Expo Planning Committee. In his free time Kevin likes to stay active with running and kickboxing. He also enjoys traveling and trying new places to eat in the Houston/Galveston Area wife his wife Shanelle.
Baili Sandig has been with Right at Home since January 2017. She is an Administrative Assistant and assists with scheduling and long-term care insurance processing. Baili’s experience has been primarily in Customer Service and child care. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her husband and two boys, watching her boys play baseball, hanging out by the pool, doing crafts and going to visit family.
Katie Richardson joined RAH in November of 2019 and serves as our Scheduling Coordinator. Katie has over 10 years of experience working in healthcare administration. Previously she served as a billing coordinator for several independent mental health practices. Katie earned her bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration from Texas State University in 2016. She enjoys her role as a scheduling coordinator and works hard to ensure the best fit for both our clients and caregivers. When she's not working, she enjoys hanging out with her husband and kids, home renovation projects, crafting and reading.
Selina Lopez returned to Right at Home in February 2019. She has extensive experience as a Caregiver but her role in the office is Administrative Assistant. With Selina’s experience, she helps bridge the gap between the office and the caregivers out in the field. She loves to teach and help others and is excited to bring forth innovative techniques to training so that our caregivers always see opportunities for growth. In her spare time, Selina loves to watch movies, cook, and seek adventures. Her husband and two-year old son continuously keep her on her toes and remind her that she can do anything!
