Put simply, our mission is to improve the quality of life for those we serve. Of course, we recognize that everyone’s idea of “quality of life” is different, which is why it’s so important to us to make you an active part of your own care plan. We want you to be in the driver’s seat regardless of any limitations or challenges you’re facing.

Meet Owners Troy Turner
and Sandra Martinez-Turner
Right at Home Grand Rapids is owned by Troy and Sandra Turner. Troy & Sandra are both involved in the business and work tirelessly to maintain a wonderful team of caregivers and office staff.
Troy served in the U.S. Navy & U.S. Marine Corps for ten years which he followed with a career, leading marketing and sales teams. Some years ago, Troy lost his first wife, Stephanie, following an extended battle with cancer. Caring for Stephanie and her subsequent death, provided a unique perspective, which eventually led Troy to Sandra and them both to Right at Home. Troy learned the short-term and long-term challenges associated with being a caregiver, while also juggling a career and raising three teenagers. He also learned the importance of living life to its fullest. While caring for Stephanie, Troy relied on support from other family members and friends because at the time, he was unaware of home care agencies, like Right at Home. Troy understands the importance of the Right at Home mission because he lived it then and he lives it today. He brings the passion from his personal experiences to every aspect of caring for others.
Sandra spent her professional career with industry leading logistics and transportation companies. Like Troy, Sandra, brings outstanding professionalism and leadership skills, combined with her personal experience. Her professional and personal experiences fuel her passion for helping others. Sandra’s mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease and she has witnessed her Mother’s cognitive skills and overall health decline. She’s seen the toll her Mother’s illness has taken on her Father and the entire family. The heartache of watching someone she loves declining is always present. While this is difficult, Sandra understands how valuable this time is. She wants to be able to help families be families and do some of the heavy lifting for them. Right at Home can do some of the hard work so families can take advantage of this precious time with their loved ones. She spends considerable time educating others about the challenges of managing through this debilitating disease. Compassionate care is something that comes naturally to Sandra, not only with her mother, but with every family and caregiver at Right at Home.
Troy & Sandra have four adult children, one grandchild and three playful dogs. They like to spend as much time as possible staying active outdoors and traveling across multiple states to visit family.

Our Philanthropies
Right at Home’s mission is “to improve the quality of life for those we serve,” and expanding our mission to serve others around the world is truly a pleasure. We support many organizations that help people live independently.

Free Wheelchair Mission
Globally, an estimated 70 million people with disabilities have no access to a wheelchair. Those who cannot walk must crawl or be carried to their destination. In collaboration with a network of like-minded partners, Free Wheelchair Mission has distributed more than 1 million wheelchairs to people with disabilities in 93 developing countries around the world, providing renewed dignity, independence and hope through the gift of mobility, at no cost to the recipient.
As an organization, our work with Free Wheelchair Mission began in 2016 as we looked for a partner that would help us further our mission of improving lives worldwide. To date, our team’s efforts have raised more than $400,000 that has funded over 5,000 wheelchairs, which were distributed through life-changing Vision Trips to Vietnam, Ecuador and Costa Rica.

Josiah’s House
Over half of the children living in the Dominican Republic live below the poverty line and can be found on the streets in at-risk surroundings in order to make money. Josiah’s House runs family-style homes that provide vulnerable boys and girls with the basic necessities, education, life skills, and family home atmosphere needed to succeed.
Recently, 70 Right at Home offices came together to support Josiah’s House by supplying everyday items for the children of Josiah’s House. The group delivered suitcases full of clothing, personal hygiene items, toys, and other supplies.
