Presidents of Right at Home Hartford
The Hartford, Connecticut office is locally owned and operated by Eileen Scandura, and her son Robert Scandura. Their mission is to improve the quality of life for you or your loved one by providing senior consulting and elderly in-home services.
Eileen Scandura
Eileen decided to open her own homemaker agency because she felt other organizations have lost their passion for supporting the elderly or have just become "body-shops" attempting to provide quality in services. While other local Connecticut agencies may tell you they can provide homemaker and companion services none of them have the direct experience that Eileen has earned throughout her career.
Robert Scandura Jr.
Robert graduated from the University of Connecticut with a B.S. in business management and has over 20-years of customer service experience. His list of accomplishments includes serving President Ronald Reagan and Vice President George Bush during their successful 1984 re-election campaign and Congresswoman Barbara Kennelly during her gubernatorial bid in Connecticut. In fact, his personable skills and determination to be the best consistently made him the top business executive for several large companies. However, Bob believes the human element is more important than company profits, and he subsequently left corporate America to manage the Right at Home office with his mother.
His experience with customer service and employee satisfaction has been invaluable as he establishes a client base and a cadre of quality staff. Bob’s passion for in home elderly services stems from living downstairs from and caring for his grandparents for almost 20 years. He believes that his presence has made a difference in their longevity and quality of life. Through his personal experience Bob truly understands what people are going through that need support for themselves or their loved ones.
Never one to sit back, Bob has a strong work ethic and identifies with astronaut Neil Armstrong's philosophy, “I believe every human has a finite number of heartbeats. I don't intend to waste any of mine."
Bob has an affinity for Veterans, especially the men and women who served and sacrificed in World War II. Bob insists, “We can't do enough for them, they have an undefined decency and humbleness that is hard to find nowadays”. Furthermore, Bob was a major financial contributor and is a proud Lifetime Charter Member of the World War II National Memorial in Washington, DC.
When he's not busy with Right at Home, he might be found volunteering at one of Connecticut's Veterans Administration hospitals. He is also actively involved in his community as a volunteer in political and charitable events.
Most importantly Bob loves working with his mother. He believes, “We truly are making a difference one person at a time”.
Bob is married to Nailia Scandura who is a board certified Neurologist and board certified Geriatric Physician. They have two children.
Why We Do What We Do
Right at Home has a mission to improve the quality of life for those we serve, and Robert, along with his family, strive to accomplish that mission one family at a time here in Connecticut.
Runs in the family
Eileen’s own mother, Mary was also a homemaker companion and has taken care of many people in her day. “My mother was a very compassionate and empathetic person. She would take care of several people at once and would always get calls for elderly assistance because people knew my mother was caring and compassionate. I learned a lot about elderly support from my mother.”
Eileen’s husband, Robert Scandura Sr. is a Retired Hartford Fireman who rose through the ranks and became a Certified Deputy Chief’s Driver’s Aide and was also awarded the Medal of Valor for saving a fire victim’s life. “I guess the homemaker-companion profession is in our blood,” Eileen is proud to say. "It’s so rewarding to ease a family’s stress and fear about what’s going to happen to an elderly parent or someone who needs help with the basic activities of daily living. Working with people who are in crisis and need help at home is a special gift we were given and Bob and I feel blessed to be able to make this our personal mission.”
Eileen performs all the assessments personally with families to make sure she knows exactly what they need and then she matches them with the best team members. Not all homemaker companion agencies send such courteous staff into clients’ home to assess their needs, but Eileen sees this as a critical element to their Total Companion Service.
When it comes to supporting our dear seniors, we realize you have many choices however if you want your loved one well taken care of then Right at Home is the agency for you.
Please give Bob or Eileen a call and you will see the difference.
