Meet Our Wonderful Care Staff
Cathy Queen, Owner
Cathy is a registered nurse and owner-operator of Rivercities Right at Home. She has provided skilled care as a RN in home health for the past 27 years, after graduating from SouthWestern College in Southern West Virginia with a degree in nursing. She has spent her entire career dedicated to providing quality in-home health care.
The Start of Her Career
Cathy began her career as a nurse’s aide in a local hospital as she progressed toward her degree in Nursing. Upon graduation, she worked as charge nurse on a medical surgical/geriatric floor before becoming a field nurse for Martin County Home Health in Warfield, KY.
Cathy served the rural areas of Eastern Kentucky and Southern West Virgina for five years, bringing much-needed quality care, specifically to seniors. The challenges she faced and her impact upon the community and the clients she served resulted in her being promoted to Clinical Director for Martin County Home Health in 1990, and then to Preferred Home Health, located in Ceredo, West Virginia, in 1996. As Clinical Director, she was in charge of providing skilled home health care services and veteran’s homemaker/respite service to Cabell, Wayne and Lincoln counties in West Virginia.
Managing all areas of health care delivery and working with the community as an advocate for issues impacting senior and veterans care in the Huntington, WV, and Ashland, KY, area, Cathy’s management style is very simple. “I won’t ask someone to do what I won’t do or have not done.” This can-do attitude resulted in her agency being recognized by the medical community as an excellent provider of in-home health care services.
Returning to Her Roots
In 2006, Cathy saw a need to return to her roots in nursing by offering hands-on care for seniors and veterans in their own homes. She began exploring the idea of providing high quality, non-medical home care services to the tri-state area. Cathy soon made the decision to partner with Right At Home.
Right at Home's History
The founder, Allen Hager, a Marshall graduate from Huntington, opened the business in Omaha, NE, in 1995. In 2000, he began offering franchise opportunities to those who shared his mission: “Improve the quality of life for the people we serve.” Right At Home's mission statement, combined with a quality driven plan for caring for the elderly, drove Cathy to make the decision to open her own franchise in 2008. Cathy’s focus on providing quality, in-home health care services to seniors and veterans, along with her respect for her clients and their families, has led to the success of Right At Home in our area.
Celebrating Ten Years of Local Service
Right At Home is celebrating its tenth year of service to the area, with offices serving Cabell and Wayne counties in West Virginia, and our new office in serving Eastern Kentucky in Ashland. Cathy serves as a member of the Board of Directors for Memorial Hospital in Manchester, KY. She sponsors and supports the Alzheimer’s Association and is also involved in Cabell Huntington SeniorWise Access group. She is the past Vice-President for Business Network International, and is a member of Grace Gospel Church in Huntington.
