Senior Home Care is Personal to Van
In 1998 Van’s mother passed away after suffering from pancreatic cancer. Near the end of her life Van’s family utilized a hospice service to provide primary care for their mother, and their eyes were opened to the impact of the home health care industry on patients and their families.
A New Path
After this experience, Van began researching the health care service business and attended classes to learn about health insurance so that he could become more familiar with the industry. With healthcare at the forefront, Van wanted to make sure he was well educated concerning the healthcare market. After meeting with the RAH corporate team during Discovery Day, Van realized the company truly understood the healthcare segment and provided an incredible support system for their franchisees to give the best client experience in the industry.

Director of Business Development
Colleen Card was raised in a small, Amish town in Nappanee, Indiana. While raising her three children she obtained her Bachelor of English from Indiana University, and a Master of Fine Arts from Butler University. Colleen moved to Carmel, Indiana in 2006 with her husband, Barry, and was employed at the Carmel Clay Public Library as Reference Assistant and Program Coordinator from 2008 until joining the family at Right at Home in August, 2017.
“Helping people is my mission. Through Right at Home I am able to touch the lives of our clients and their families by focusing my personal attention on their needs. We are more than a company, we are passionate caregivers enhancing lives of those who need us.”
~ Colleen Card
Colleen’s passion for caregiving began at an early age, helping care for her grandmother, Judith, who was handicapped for most of her life. Carrying that experience of caring for others with her, in 2000 Colleen trained as a certified Home Health Assistant. She spent the next few years serving as a caregiver for a young man with cerebral palsy, and an older gentleman with dementia. In 2011 Colleen and her husband, Barry, brought Barry’s 90-year-old mother, Audrey, to live with them, and Colleen began caring for her at home. After Audrey’s death, Colleen felt deeply the need for quality caregivers to assist families in caring for their loved ones.
In 2016 Colleen’s mother, Jean, suffered a stroke, and the family began searching for quality care to help them keep their mother at home as long as possible. The care they found enabled Jean to spend her last days in her own home, surrounded by her family and beloved pets. All of these experiences have ingrained into Colleen a deep passion and understanding of the need for compassionate, dependable, and qualified caregivers for families in need, and she hopes to carry that passion into her role at Right at Home.
