Indiana's oldest state employee, Bob Vollmer.

A lot of us dream of retiring one day and living the leisurely life---but for many, work is what gives us purpose, and it's hard to imagine not having that purposeful work to do. Take Bob Vollmer, Indiana's oldest state employee who recently retired at age 102! In this photo provided by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources you can see him hard at work as a land surveyor, still going strong after 60 years on the job. His secret to success? Hard work. Keep moving. Purposeful living. Bob won the Sagamore of the Wabash in 2016, Indiana's highest civilian honor, having "distinguished his humanity in living, his loyalty in friendship, his wisdom in council, and his inspiration in leadership." We, here at Right at Home Indianapolis North are inspired by Bob, and we honor senior citizens like him every day by providing quality care and excellent services to those in need. We have so much to learn from our seniors!
