Michelle Ambrose, Director of Community Relations
Michelle Ambrose, Director of Community Relations
Michelle brings 15 years’ experience to Right at Home in her position as Director of Community Relations. She is proud to be a resource to seniors in the community. She is involved in various senior groups in York, Lancaster, Cumberland, and Adams counties. The list of senior groups include Lancaster and York Senior outreach services, Senior information networking group, Healthy Adams County, and Hanover Adams Senior resources.
Michelle was first introduced to being a caregiver when she was 15. Her grandmother came to live with her family. She and her sister would help their mother bathe and dress their grandmother. She loved to fix her grandmother's hair and lay in bed with her and read from the Bible. Her grandmother had sleigh bells that she would ring in the middle of the night to get everyone tend to her. Michelle still has those sleigh bells to this day and gets them out every year for Christmas. A family tradition.
She then went on to become a CNA for ManorCare for 12 years. She started out working in the Alzheimer’s unit and instantly fell in love with her job and the residents she took care of. She learned a lot about Alzheimer's over the years and work with patients on a daily basis. She then went to work in a rehab and saw residents came through the door needing so much help then left the facility feeling much better. She is a firm believer in physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy.
Michelle started working for Right at Home in 2016 as the manager of the Lancaster, PA office. Her favorite saying was, “well this is a first.” She had previously worked in the long-term care industry and is now transitioned to work in home care. She believes that if you truly love your job, you will never have to work a day in your life -- and that's how she describes her life at the moment. She loves what she does in every sense of the word..
