Our caregivers are the lifeblood of Right At Home Tyler & Longview! The care and attention that they provide to each of our clients is irreplaceable. Here are a few of our caregivers recounting some of their favorite moments with clients.
"My most memorable moment was with a client, who had been unresponsive, at the hospital. As she laid on the hospital bed I pulled up a stool and sat next to her. I was running my fingers through her hair and she opened her eyes, and with the most effortless grin, she playfully asked, "What are you doing here?", then pressed her forehead against mine still smiling. It touched my heart to know that she was comforted by my presence and had given a full response to the compassion I was showing towards her. Moments like these let us know that we, as caregivers, make a great difference in our clients lives!"
"I have been with my client almost 2 years. She is a memory care patient and completely dependent. She is the sweetest little lady and always smiles when I get here. She brightens my day and always has a hug. I've been told she's completely different when I'm not here. I had surgery in March and the staff told me she was not herself while I was gone, so I would come visit her. She would light up when I came and brought my girls to visit. She's always cutting up and keeps you laughing especially when she dances with you and tells you that you're a monkey. I love working with her. She makes my job worthwhile."
"My client loves to sing for me. On her really good days she'll sing like an opera star with big rolling rrr's and hand movements and everything. And she gets this huge grin on her face like she's having the time of her life. It just warms my heart every time she feels like performing for me. Wouldn't trade that for the world."
