Owners of Right at Home New Castle County

Joe and Alison Bakey introduced Right at Home to Media, Pennsylvania in January of 2004. Three years later, they opened doors to their second office in New Castle County, Delaware.

Joe has a business, sales and marketing background. He was the Vice President of Sales and Marketing for a material handling Equipment Company. Prior to that, he was the equipment salesperson for the same company for over 25 years.

Alison graduated from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Science in Communications. She later obtained her Graduate Degree in Audiology. Alison has years of experience working with seniors and toddlers who have hearing impairment.

After Alison’s father passed away, her mother’s normal activities became strenuous. The couple decided to bring in professionals who have the resources and caretaking expertise to care for Alison’s mom. The experience was a turning point in their career and lives.

Combining knowledge from their professional and personal backgrounds, Joe and Alison decided to establish a home care and assistance organization in the Delaware Valley. “We wanted to provide families with the peace of mind that comes with knowing that their loved ones are receiving the best care,” said Alison.

While Joe and Alison are hands on in day to day operation, they draw on the ample resources from their partnership with national organizations including The Pennsylvania Homecare Association, The Home Care Association of America, and The Delco networking Group. The couple provides education on many critical issues related to caring for the aging – including helping veterans to secure financial assistance for long-term care and home health care.

Joe is a speaker of the Children of Aging Parents (C.O.A.P.). In group exchanges, he helps adult children caregivers to plan for their loved ones’ long term care needs. He also serves as a volunteer firefighter at the Harrison Township Fire Department.

Alison and Joe have three children – Tori, a 2015 graduate from James Madison University. She is working for a non-profit organization that raises money to help feed the homeless in Philadelphia. Eric, an army specialist in Fort Carson Colorado Springs who will be deployed to Afghanistan for a second time in 2016. Joanna, a lacrosse and soccer player who is joining her sophomore class in 2015.
