Randy on KTBB February Show

Randy talks about some of the challenges and milestones he has passed along the way, how people pay for services and Long Term Care Insurance.

For people who are tired & struggling to get help for themselves or a love one, right now, what do you recommend?

Randy During February Radio ShowWhen we began, this was a very personal mission for us. We have always wanted to provide care for our Clients and their families as if it was our own parents and family.

My wife, my siblings and I walked with my Mom as my Dad was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia about 8 years ago, and went through that long, painful disease for 7 years before he passed away last April.

All three of our remaining parents are 85 this year, and they all live in Dallas. Like many other families, they & we face many challenges!

Our long history as an organization and the ongoing challenges that we are facing, working with them remotely and travelling to Dallas as much as we can, forces us to be constantly dealing with many of the same challenges that our Clients and families face every day. This fuels our passion even more and keeps the challenges, difficulty, frustrations & needs in front of us, personally all the time!

All of this is fueling and propelling our passion and focus for our next decade & beyond!

My response has always been to add more resources. So, in addition the Social Workers and nurses we already have on our team, we just added another Social Worker in Nacogdoches and are hiring another full time nurse in Tyler!

Mother's Day Story

During the month of May, Kym asked our caregivers to submit stories for Mother's Day. Jennifer Liggins submitted the winning story below. Also, as a not so side note, Jennifer has been accepted into the Nursing Program! Congratulations Jennifer!

"My "mom" story is a little different. My client is not a mom. But she's like my grandma. I take care of her like I would my grandma. She's the sweetest lady.

In 2000, I gave birth to an angel. She became an angel on my due date before I could meet her. Her name is Brooklyn Nicole and she would be 18 today. I was lost. In 2001 I was blessed to have another baby....a boy. I wanted a girl. So in 2005 I was blessed with another girl. Tiny but healthy. I thought I was complete but God had another plan. After going through a divorce I met my husband now in May 2015. He had lost his wife to brain cancer and she left behind a baby girl. So now I am blessed to be a bonus mom to Lily who is now 4 and a half and I've been her mom since she was a year and a half old. It's bittersweet but God works in mysterious ways. I lost my daughter. She lost her mom. Then God gave us each other."
