Grayslake Declared the First Age Friendly Community in Lake County, IL

Improving the Health and Quality of Life for Seniors

Last night at the Grayslake Village Board Meeting, Mayor Rhett Taylor signed Resolution 899 calling for Grayslake being declared the first age-friendly community in Lake County, Illinois. The WHO and AARP developed eight domains of community life that influence the health and quality of life for older people. These domains include:

  • Outdoor spaces and buildings
  • Transportation
  • Housing
  • Social participation
  • Respect and social inclusion
  • Civic participation and employment
  • Communication and information
  • Community support and health services
