North Chicago Fire Department Becomes Dementia Friendly
Mike Steiner/Owner Right at Home & IKOR, Del Urban/North Chicago Fire Chief, Reid Mammoser/North Chicago Medical Officer and
Julie Pettinato, LCSW/Owner of Counseling Center of Grayslake
Right at Home of Grayslake owner Mike Steiner and Counseling Center of Grayslake owner Julie Pettinato recently completed Dementia Friendly Training for the Northern Chicago Fire Department.
Contacted by North Chicago Medical Officer Reid Mammoser, training was held in two parts over 3 days in November to cover all shifts in the department. The first part of training was Dementia Live which gave the Fire Fighters an idea of what it may be like living with dementia and the second part was the Dementia Friendly Community training.
We were also privileged to include another Fire Chief from a nearby community who we are now working with to train his department.
If you would like to learn more about being part of the Dementia Friendly Community contact us or visit our Dementia Friendly Page for more information.
