February is Heart Healthy Month
Right at Home at Hartsfield Village
February is "Heart Healthy Month"! And in honor of the occasion, Right at Home recently teamed up with Hartsfield Village to put on a program on heart health for residents of the community. It was a smashing success, as more than 81 residents of the community attended the sold-out program in Hartsfield Village's independent living facility in Munster.
Right at Home was represented by owner Marc Sokol and his mother, Carole Dougherty, our VP of Quality Assurance and Community Relations, who is also a social worker. During the program, Carole delivered a presentation on heart health, including how to detect early warning signs that a heart attack might be imminent. Carole also showed the participants a heart healthy episode of PBS's series "Feel Grand with Jane Seymour." The program featured great audience participation and a lively and informative discussion on heart health, with every seat filled. In addition to the Right at Home presentation, the participants enjoyed a lunch prepared by Hartsfield Village's renowned cook, Chef Gabe, as well as wine sampling paired with dark and milk chocolates.
Although Heart Healthy Month comes only once per year, Right at Home and Hartsfield Village are proud to have teamed up to help residents of northwest Indiana stay heart healthy all-year long.
