World Stroke Day: October 29th

You or someone you know may have experienced a stroke at some point in your life. This can be a stressful event and the recovery process can also be intimidating. Our team prides itself in making sure the caregivers we send into your home have the specialized knowledge and expertise to ensure all needs are being addressed.

World Stroke Day this year is October 29th and the theme is “Support for Life After Stroke.”

If you are a stroke survivor or care for a loved one who has had a stroke, these care tips may be helpful:

  • Be aware - a change in condition can spur a change in treatment. A decline in a stroke survivor’s physical function may mean the loved one is eligible for more services.
  • Consider a rehabilitation tune-up. After initial rehabilitation, many stroke patients benefit from periodically doing more therapy or trying another course of therapy. Maintain a good ongoing relationship with either a neurologist, psychiatrist, or rehabilitation specialist.
  • Stay updated on insurance coverage. Clarify what inpatient and outpatient services are covered and for what length of time, and what out-of-pocket expenses can be expected.

FACT: More than 7 million Americans are survivors of a stroke, the “brain attack” that occurs when the brain is cut off from normal blood supply.

Caregiver Spotlight

Please join us in congratulating our September 2018 Caregiver of the Month, Dalores Lounds!

Dalores had numerous clients throughout September, and added a new client to her already busy schedule. Dalores’ outgoing and bubbly personality makes her a perfect match for her clients.

Dalores is especially skilled when it comes to clients who have dementia. She possesses a natural talent for keeping the atmosphere calm and light and completing all tasks, even at times that can prove to be difficult. She goes above and beyond keeping the office up to date on her clients' conditions, whether that be supplies they need in their homes, medications they are running low on, or just general changes.

One of our favorite things about Dalores is that she calls the office and sees if we need her while she has free time in between clients or on a day off!  Like our best caregivers, Dalores rarely calls off her accepted shifts, never misses a clock-in or out, and is diligent in turning in her care notes each week.

We extend a huge thank you to Dalores for delivering the gold standard of care to her clients and for being an outstanding caregiver.

As a reward for earning the Caregiver of the Month award, Dalores will be awarded a $100 bonus, given Right at Home apparel, have her name engraved on the Caregiver of the Month plaque in our office, and receive company-wide recognition.
