Fun on Caregiver Appreciation Day
Our caregivers are the center of Right at Home Northwest Oklahoma City's culture. They fulfill our mission to "improve the quality of life for those we serve." They develop caring and authentic relationships with clients. They train hard and put maximum effort into caring for our seniors and adults with disabilities. They are appreciated more than they know!
Caregiver Appreciation Day is observed on the third Friday in February — on February 17 this year. The day honors individuals who selflessly provide personal care, and physical and emotional support to those who need it most. Our caregivers are special and we appreciate all that they do. We just cannot say it enough! We love our caregivers! Every day during the week we had new and different activities, fun, food & prizes. Thanks to all of you who came in to visit.
Caregiver Spotlight
Congratulations to Lacia Trevino-Kibet, Right at Home's Caregiver of the Month for December. Lacia, a care professional with RAH for more than a year, is an experienced certified nurse aide who sets high standards and expectations for care. Family members trust their loved-ones with her and have expressed how thankful they are for her care. Lacia's approach is direct, positive, and fun. Thank you Lacia for helping Right at Home live out it's mission each day!
Merry Christmas 2022
From door decorating in assisted living facilities, to celebrating Christmas with our staff & caregivers, sharing dinner with our friends in the industry, to Christmas with Dean Martin at Yale Theatre! It has been a fun pact and very busy December! We would like to take this opportunity to raise a glass and make a toast to all our valued clients, caregivers, staff, and friends!!

Caregiver Bone-Chillin' Appreciation Breakfast
We had a fantastic turn out and had a great time serving breakfast to our team. Lots of conversation, laughs, and stories told while sharing homemade biscuits & gravy, breakfast casserole, pancakes & bacon, cinnamon rolls, and little fruit! Each person chose a special pumpkin, won a prize, and went home with a smile and full stomach!!

Dementia Training '22
As the top private home care agency in Oklahoma City, Right at Home is committed to continuous caregiver development. This week we spent time with caregivers at our office honing and developing skills that help identify possible effects of dementia. Putting yourself in their shoes while trying to function through activities of daily life can be sad and eye opening.
In the next 30 years the number of Americans aged 65 and older with Alzheimer's dementia may grow to 13.8 million. It’s important that we know how to care for our aging community!
If you ever have chance to participate in a dementia training class...please do so! It will change your perspective on what people diagnosed with dementia are going through.

Vitals & Transfers — The Best Caregivers in the Business!
Right at Home Northwest Oklahoma, as a leading in-home care provider, knows how important it is that we continuously train and review field processes with our caregivers. This week we focused on taking vitals, with a variety of devices, and how to make safe transfers for our clients and caregivers.

National Nurses Week
May 6-12 is National Nurses Week. May 12th is also the birth date of Florence Nightingale. Florence Nightingale lived from 1820 to 1910 and was known as “The Lady With the Lamp.” She was a British nurse, social reformer and statistician best known as the founder of modern nursing. Nightingale worked as a nurse during the Crimean War and established St. Thomas’ Hospital and the Nightingale Training School for Nurses in 1860. She led reform in healthcare to improve the quality of care in the 19th and 20th centuries.

Celebrating 'CNA Week' and Our Special Care Team
We love the opportunity to get together with our CNA’s especially during a week that celebrates what they do day in and day out. Thank you so much to all our Right at Home CNA’s and to all those out there working with folks that need help getting through the day! This is your week please enjoy! We provided some goodies to show our appreciation!
The certified nursing assistant profession was started by the American Red Cross during WWI. These first CNA’s worked alongside army nurses treating soldiers and filling empty positions in hospitals throughout reserves, bases, and even civilian hospitals. Over the next 60 years, CNAs were continuously called to action, proving over and over again their dedication and commitment to their profession. Soon people realized the crucial job that CNAs perform, leading to the development of CNA week. Certified nursing assistants have had a national day of appreciation since 1977. This special day is then followed by a full week of celebrations.

Cognitive Care Training at Village on the Park

In July we spent time with Village on The Park, Oklahoma City, Memory Care and Assisted Living staff working on skills that help cope with the effects of dementia. Putting yourself in their shoes while trying to function through activities of daily life can be sad and eye opening. In the next 30 years the number of Americans age 65 and older with Alzheimer's dementia may grow to 13.8 million. It’s important that we know how to care for our aging community!
When should someone with dementia go into a care home?’ is a question you may have asked yourself. Knowing when someone with dementia should move into residential or nursing care can be difficult. The main thing to think about is whether your loved one’s needs are met at home; is moving into a care home in their best interest?
If your loved one is unable to live independently and cannot care for themselves anymore, moving into a residential setting will give them the benefit of 24-hour care and support.

Staff Christmas Party
It was so much fun having our staff and spouse’s together for our Christmas Party 2021. Last year it was cancelled because of you know why! But we made up for this year by having it at our new office. When you let the staff plan the games and activities it can get out of hand. Fun games, cash $$$$$ prizes great food and fellowship!

NW OKC Caregiver Christmas Party
Friday the 19th was our come and go Christmas Party for our Caregivers. It was good to see and visit with everyone and share a little holiday cheer with the folks that are so important in our lives and the lives of our clients. Our Exceptional Caregivers Take On Any Client Need!!!
Most of our senior men use electric shavers to keep their faces clean. But we all know nothing is better than a hot towel over the face, a good shave soap, badger brush lather and a sharp razor to get a real barbershop style shave. We have a few gentlemen clients who want just that! We pride ourselves in providing Caregiver Shave Training Classes so we can provide shave services. It makes a man feel young and fresh to have a clean shave and a splash of good aftershave. OUCH!!

We have the best clients and the best caregivers! This letter came to me from one of our first clients at Hefner Mansions. She is a great gal, always fun to talk to and loves to play PIGGY BANK BINGO!! After Bingo last week she handed me this letter like it was a secret message for a Mission Impossible! The letter was so much fun we had to share !! Beautiful wonderful over and over again! Thank you to our Right at Home Caregivers Susan & Tylynn. They did a wonderful job!! Right at Home "Blizzard Kits." We Love Our Caregivers!
Valentine’s Day 2021 greeted us with sub-zero temperatures, freezing rain & snow. It was not an easy task nor was it for the faint of heart to make your way on your daily routine. But our caregivers did just that! We are so blessed to have such dedicated caregivers that are willing to brave the Siberian cold front plus the OKC Blizzard of 2021 to take care of our clients. Many caregivers chose to shelter in place and be there just in case they were needed! To make those nights more comfortable, enjoyable, cozy and to show our appreciation we delivered our “Right at Home Blizzard Kits” complete with popcorn, hot chocolate, drinks, breakfast, pizza and more! Thank you so much for your dedication and love for our seniors!
Valentine's Day Caregiver Appreciation
