Diane’s husband was put on hospice and she needed a little extra help with sleeping
Diane and Jack have been married for over 60 years. Their children noticed a cognitive decline in both parents; but it took a turn for the worse when Jack was put on hospice care.
The family reached out to Right at Home to help Diane cope with the changes in Jack’s condition and to help Jack stay comfortable while the family members were at work. Right at Home worked with this family for over several months; making sure that Diane and Jack had a good breakfast, helping Jack to take showers, and giving Diane some much needed respite care.
As Jack’s health declined we were able to keep him comfortable in the hospital bed that was provided by hospice. We were able to turn him every two hours so that no bed sores would appear; we helped with bed baths on the days that the hospice aid didn’t come; we were able to help Diane get a good meal and to be a companion for her during these tough times.
The family was there when they could be, but their lives continued to be busy. They were comforted by the knowledge that the caregivers from Right at Home were there when they couldn’t be.
