Frank Billante, Owner
Frank Billante was born and raised in San Francisco. His dad immigrated from Italy when he was 15 years old, and the family was in the commercial fishing business in San Francisco and Monterey. At the age of 74, his dad had a major stoke which significantly impacted his life. Paralyzed on one side, aphasia, and limited mobility and communication, with his mom being primary caregiver to his dad. He witnessed firsthand the importance of home care and the toll it took on his mom. He also witnessed the ability of it to restore some dignity to those who want to continue to have some independence in their lives.
While being a firefighter gave him a sense of accomplishment in helping others. Once he retired from the fire Service, while meaningful in the real estate world, he didn't have the feeling of making a difference. He was fortunate to have had the opportunity to get into the home care business in the city he grew up in. They were a community based/ involved company, that was part of the fabric of the city. His daughter is due with her first child in June, and they decided to move closer to her and their new grandchild. He wanted to continue in senior care and was fortunate in his timing that this fantastic Right at Home franchise was available during their transition to the desert. They are planning on continuing the work the previous owners have done, with an addition of some of great things they were able to accomplish previously in the San Francisco Bay Area. Again, trying to be a part of the community.
He studied business at USF before joining the Oakland Fire Department but retired after 15 years after suffering lung problems. He later served in a series of restaurants, including one he owned for six years - Village Pizzeria in the Marina District from 1992-1998. He also worked as Fire Marshal for all of UCSF for 13 years. In the 1990s, he also earned his real estate license and served as a mortgage broker for Pacific Bay Financial - a service he still practices. Six years ago, he bought a San Francisco senior care business, which he sold in September 2020; he then bought Right at Home in the Coachella Valley in December 2020.
He married his wife, Elizabeth, an Oklahoma native, 22 years ago. A Georgetown University grad, she serves as vice president of investment management for Wilson Meaney, a commercial real estate service.Frank's children include Alessandra '02 and Gianluca '20. Alessandra, a Cal Poly SLO grad, now works in the senior care business; she recently married Steve Jones who brought with him his three children (Presley 16, Kopper 10, and Barrett 8) from his previous marriage, and Alessandra is due in June with a son. Gianluca studies engineering at Cornell on a Navy ROTC scholarship; the goalie for SI's lacrosse team, he will play club lacrosse at Cornell.
Services & Caregivers
Our services are provided on any schedule that is convenient for our client and the family. Care may be provided for as little as a few hours a day up to 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In each case we develop a personalized plan of care to be delivered whenever and wherever a client calls home.
All caregivers are carefully screened and are subjected to rigorous background checks before being considered for employment. Only after passing our screening process, are candidates tested and professionally trained through our exclusive Right at Home CERT ProgramSM (Caregiver Education Recognition & Training Program).
Additionally, as our caregivers are employees of Right at Home, all payroll taxes and worker’s compensation insurance premiums are paid by us. The client and family need not be concerned about the financial exposure of a worker’s compensation claim, nor need they be burdened with the additional expense and bookkeeping involved in staying current on all payroll tax liability.
