Staying Hydrated for Seniors
While the summer months heat up it is increasingly important to avoid dehydration, especially in the senior community. While temps in the San Gabriel area get into 90 degrees and higher, take some time to apply this tip to encourage seniors to get more fluids. In an effort to avoid unnecessary sugars we’ve put together our very own simple homemade popsicle recipe.
Water, Honey, Lemons, Blueberries, and Strawberries provide ample flavor, and combining them with water or any low sugar fluid creates a great mix of relief from the summer heat and a way to stay hydrated. Our favorite recipe includes 2 lemons, a handful of blueberries, and a handful of strawberries. After washing all the fruit, we start cutting the strawberries into small pieces, muddle them with the blueberries in a small bowl, and add a tablespoon of honey. Next, we get out our popsicle mold tray and fill each individual mold with the ingredients. Fill any remaining space with your liquid of choice, and let sit overnight. Enjoy!
