Dan Parker-Owner of Right at Home Sacramento
Dan Parker
Owner
When Dan Parker left the U.S. Navy from his last duty station, Moffet Field Naval Air Station, in Mountain View, CA., he jumped into the exciting world of high technology. From building printed circuit boards to building computer systems with start-up Sun Microsystems. Dan spent the next 30+ years working in manufacturing environments as senior management responsible for production of high quality products. Owning a home care business was not yet on his radar.
In 2007, Dan was then Director of Operations for a Semi-Conductor Equipment Manufacturing Company in Morgan Hill, Ca. He decided to make a move to the Sacramento area where he met and then married Jill Blackwelder, Associate Vice Chancellor at U.C. Davis. While planning his move, it became clear that manufacturing had few opportunities in the Sacramento area. After doing their research, Dan and Jill made the decision to start a business by working with Right at Home, Inc. a provider of home care for seniors and disabled adults headquartered in Omaha, Nebraska.
After completing training in Omaha, Dan and Jill opened the doors on Right at Home Sacramento-Davis in February of 2008. Dan and Jill liked the idea of being able to give back to the community and felt Right at Home was very well positioned to do so. Now in their tenth year of business providing care for seniors and their families all over the Sacramento region, they look back on the service they have been able to provide with a sense of accomplishment. Dan and Jill Parker have positioned Right at Home Sacramento-Davis to continue forward as a premier provider of home care and staffing services to families and senior care communities in Metro Sacramento.
Dan works today to try and bring the same kind of efficiency he was able to build into manufacturing operations into his Right at Home operation through continuous improvement and use of technology to streamline the organization. With hard work, the building of a strong staff, and a lot of perseverance, Dan and his team have built an effective home care business that provides excellent care in the Metro area. With an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau, membership in Right at Home’s President Circle, and his recent election by his peers to the Franchise Advisory Council, Dan is set to provide leadership in the Right at Home system as well as his own business here in Sacramento well into the future.
Although being a small business owner is always challenging, particularly in an industry that is seeing dynamic changes, Dan feels that he and his team are on the right track. He often tells his staff and employees that it is always about doing the right thing, making the best decisions you can each and every day, and the rest will take care of itself. And, oh yeah, “Failure is Not an Option".
Lyndsey Parker
Vice President/COO
Hello everyone! My name is Lyndsey Parker and I am the Vice President/COO for Right at Home where we provide in-home care and assistance to seniors and disabled adults. Since starting with Right at Home in 2011, I have learned many aspects of the in-home care industry.
Some of these areas include hands-on staffing, recruiting, managing the office, as well as marketing, conducting client assessments, and overseeing daily operations as the Chief Operating Officer.
After graduating Highschool, attending Community College, and working in Customer Service at a young age, I then decided to move from Gilroy to Sacramento to work with my Father in the family business. We have both enjoyed the experience and together have built a successful home care company that not only prides itself on the quality of care that our caregivers provide, but also the family-owned aspect that keeps our values true to us and the level of customer service we provide.
Just like any other field, we face challenges, but the smiles on our client’s faces as well as the peace of mind of their loved ones keeps me driven to being the best, because every one of our clients deserve it. I feel very fulfilled that we have been able to help so many people stay in their homes longer than they would have without the help.
Throughout the years, I have learned a lot not only about the senior care industry and how it operates, but I have also learned a lot about life and more importantly, quality of life. Since I started at Right at Home I have become a mother to two wonderful children: My Son, RJ and my daughter, Amaleah, and I am thankful for them every day. I choose to live my life to the fullest, doing what I love, and spending my time with whom mean the most to me. I have always believed that we should treat others as we would like to be treated and this shines bright in the senior community. I will keep striving to increase the standard of care so that we can continue to add quality of life to our clients and show people what aging in place should really look like.
