What is the Elder Kindness Gang?
This group connects people with opportunities to volunteer to be the change for our senior community, to increase their quality of life one act of kindness at a time.
Being of service to something — a person, a group, a community, a cause or a belief — means that you've chosen to engage without expectation of reciprocation.
Who can participate?
Anyone who wants to “Be the change” for seniors
What will members do?
Members will sign up for volunteer projects that interest them, giving their time, skills, and knowledge to help a senior or senior related organization with a specific need.

Lyndsey Parker Franceschi | Right at Home Sacramento-Davis
Juliana Isaac | Dinkelbach Design
Sondra Marie Campbell | The Oars Senior Living

Who will coordinate the volunteer opportunities?
Organizations, communities, groups, or clubs that recognize a need and are seeking volunteers to help fulfill that need. We do not coordinate the volunteer opportunity. We just promote the volunteer opportunity to members in our group and provide them a way to connect with individual coordinators to sign up to participate. Only sign up for opportunities that interest you and that you are committed to show up for.
Opportunities to volunteer can be found by visiting our Facebook page and clicking on EVENTS. This list continues to grow, so stay tuned to learn more about what is coming up.
Can we request volunteers?
Yes, you can! Please submit all requests for volunteers via our Facebook inbox. You must be and official organization or group to request volunteers.

Our Volunteer Projects
Project: Lend a Hand for The Homeless
The Elder Kindness Gang - Sacramento Chapter and Right at Home Sacramento-Davis teamed up to support local hero Gloria Wadud in making a difference for the homeless and our city. This local hero has distributed hundreds of tents to the homeless in our area and continues to try to do what she can for this population that is struggling and could use a kind hand. On October 18th, Gloria distributed more tents and sleeping bags around town. Our goal was to provide her with 100 Care Packages to go along with those tents.
Project: Crafting for a Cause
The Crafting For a Cause & Care Chat event was a fun afternoon of creating handcrafted busy mats for seniors with dementia and decorating donation jars. These were set out in various senior communities to help raise funds for Free Wheelchair Mission. Our very own Medina Kay Van Alstyne of Mynd&Heart guided a group of us through creating these lovely busy mats. Lyndsey Franceschi of Right at Home Sacramento-Davis led us through making the donation jars for Free Wheelchair Mission.

Cruise Around the Wold Cook-Off and Fundraiser
Our gang came together to support the Del Oro Caregiver Resource Center for their annual “Cruise Around The World” fundraising event. This opportunity to volunteer and attend the event kicked-off the start of the Elder Kindness Gang. With all of the enthusiasm about our new gang, we were super excited to see volunteers head out into the community to make a difference for seniors.
