We are thrilled to announce that our team members, Celeste Begley Community Relations Director, and Brenda Forster, Director of Nursing are now Certified Dementia Practitioners!
Background
The National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners, Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care, curriculum was developed from combined years of clinical experience as well as professional consulting expertise. To enhance the quality of life of individuals in the community through education, advocacy and awareness.
The National Council for Certified Dementia Practitioners, LLC was founded in 2001 by a committee of health care professionals, from various backgrounds, and fields of expertise. With their combined talents, the group created the program as they saw a great need to ensure caregivers receive the best training possible in order to better serve care recipients. As incidence of dementia and Alzheimer’s disease continue to increase worldwide, the council will continue its efforts to promote standards of dementia and Alzheimer’s disease education for professional caregivers.

The Certified Dementia Practitioner is the earned credential that recognizes the highest standard in Alzheimer’s and dementia education that has been achieved. The National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners, exists to establish credentialing mechanisms for validating proficiency in Alzheimer’s and dementia education. The certification demonstrates the achievement of specialized training in the areas of Alzheimer’s and dementia care.
The benefits of Certified Dementia Practitioner certification are numerous to health care professionals. During the training, each student receives resources in the area of Alzheimer’s and dementia.
