Caregiver of the Month

At Right at Home San Mateo/Palo Alto, we believe our caregivers are our greatest asset, and we want to recognize them for fulfilling our mission and providing our clients the best possible care at home. Our Caregiver of the Month program showcases those caregivers who provide excellent care to our clients and go above and beyond.

Seebee B.

December 2024

Seebee’s journey to caregiving is nothing short of inspiring. Born and raised in Burma, she moved to Bangkok, Thailand, where she worked as a nanny for families of international delegates. But her story truly took a remarkable turn when she won a U.S. Green Card lottery—a life-changing opportunity that brought her to America. Determined to build a better life, Seebee embraced every challenge. She worked tirelessly to improve her English and, on the advice of friends, found her calling in caregiving.

For the past 12 years, Seebee has poured her heart into the work she loves. “Every client has a story,” she says with a smile. “Learning about their lives and histories is the most rewarding part of what I do.” Her clients feel the same about her, often marveling at her ability to bring warmth and light into their homes.

Caregiving, however, isn’t just a profession for Seebee—it’s a family affair. Her husband, her greatest supporter, ensures she stays strong and healthy to give her best to those she cares for. “He’s my caregiver at home,” she says with a laugh. “He makes sure I eat well, rest, and have everything I need to keep going.”

Seebee’s resilience, kindness, and unwavering dedication inspire us all. She has a gift for making each client feel like family, and her impact extends far beyond the care she provides. Seebee, we are honored to have you as part of our team. Thank you for being the heart of what we do.

Meet Alexis M, our Caregiver of the Month! Alexis is a proud Mexican American whose journey into caregiving began with a deeply personal story. Growing up, he had the opportunity to care for his beloved great-grandfather, who had lost his vision and struggled with daily tasks. Buena R.

October 2024

Meet Buena R., our Caregiver of the Month! Her caregiving journey began in 1985 after earning a certificate from the Nurse Assistant/Home Health Aide Program. Starting as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in a convalescent hospital, Buena's loving spirit and passion for caregiving quickly blossomed.

While raising three energetic sons, she balanced her career with education, earning an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education, a Bachelor's in Psychology, and two Master's degrees—one in Psychology and another in Leadership in Early Childhood Education.

In July 2019, she made a bold move to weekend caregiving in Sacramento, dedicating her weekends to serving seniors. After relocating to San Francisco, Buena joined our Right at Home Peninsula team, where her happy spirit truly shines.

Reliable and compassionate, Buena takes pride in building genuine connections with her seniors, always attentive to their individual needs. Whether she’s sharing a laugh, engaging in meaningful conversations, or enjoying card games, her enthusiasm brings joy to their days.

Buena's family shares her passion for caregiving, feeling privileged to serve such wonderful seniors. Join us in celebrating her remarkable journey and the light she brings to those she serves!

Aurelia C

September 2024

Our Caregiver of the Month, Aurelia C., has a story marked by life’s unexpected turns and heartfelt dedication. Originally, she set her sights on law school, dreaming of defending religious freedoms through a Christian nonprofit. Armed with degrees in Business Administration and Finance, her path seemed destined for another direction—until life intervened.

In the midst of her university studies, Aurelia’s father was diagnosed with cancer. She put her career on hold to become his primary caregiver, managing his treatments, advocating for him, and serving as his power of attorney. Through this intense and emotional journey, she discovered a deeper calling: caregiving was where she truly belonged.

For over ten years, Aurelia has been a professional caregiver, though her compassion and empathy have been lifelong traits. To her, caregiving is far more than just a job—it’s a sacred privilege. She finds purpose in easing pain, supporting families, and offering dignity to those in need. As she often says, “Caregiving isn’t just about being someone’s hands or feet; sometimes, it’s being their voice, advocate, or peace of mind.” Whether it’s caring for someone with dementia or helping a nonverbal individual with autism, she approaches each case with unwavering commitment.

Despite her busy schedule, Aurelia cherishes time with her children and grandchildren, living by her faith and belief that we are called to help others. We are honored to celebrate her dedication this month!

Mildred M

August 2024

In our Caregiver of the Month spotlight, we’re excited to share the story of Mildred, a caregiver whose journey is as rich as the care she provides. Mildred’s path began in the Philippines, but life’s adventures took her to France, where she began as a maid. It was there that she found her true calling—caregiving. Encouraged by friends, Mildred embraced this new role, not realizing it would lead her to care for the mother of the famous French actress, Catherine Deneuve. For ten years, Mildred devoted herself to this role, providing 24/7 care several days a week. The bond they shared became a testament to the power of compassion and dedication.

In 2012, Mildred made a life-changing move to the United States, where she worked in a factory for a decade. Yet, her heart never truly left caregiving. Drawn back to her passion, she returned to caring for others, starting with a senior couple, which reignited her deep love for the profession. She later joined our Right at Home family, and fate played a special role once more when she began caring for her current client on her birthday, June 3rd. This poignant moment made an already special day even more meaningful for her.

To Mildred, caregiving is much more than a job—it’s a way to honor her mother’s memory. Every client becomes part of her extended family, and she treats them with the same kindness, dedication, and love that she would her own relatives. This sentiment is echoed by her client’s daughter, who shares, "Mildred is truly gentle and respectful to our mother. She treats her like she is her own relative, and we know she really loves her."

Mildred’s unwavering commitment to caring for others continues to inspire everyone she touches, and we are incredibly proud to have her as part of our team.

This rich experience has shaped her into a compassionate and skilled caregiver who knows that good nutrition is key to overall well-being. Medina goes above and beyond in preparing delicious meals tailored to her clients' diets and preferences, always presented with a touch of elegance.

Mayra C.

May 2024

Mayra’s journey into caregiving is a story of serendipity and dedication, showing how unexpected paths often lead to fulfilling destinations. Ten years ago, she walked into a facility with a resume for a receptionist job, seeking stability. During her interview, it was discovered that Mayra had studied to become a medical assistant. Recognizing her potential, the facility offered her a caregiving position, and Mayra, with her warmth and resilience, embraced it wholeheartedly.

From day one, Mayra felt deeply connected to her work, finding joy in caring for her clients. Her family, seeing her passion, provided unwavering support as she navigated the challenges and rewards of caregiving. Her motivation comes from a genuine place of empathy, driven by the desire to enhance her clients' quality of life. “I am always hopeful for my clients' well-being,” she often says.

Karen, one of Mayra’s long-term clients, speaks highly of her: “Mayra makes me laugh, and we always have a good time together. She is reliable and goes above and beyond.” Mayra’s bond with Karen highlights the impact of her genuine care.  We are so proud of Mayra’s commitment and so grateful she’s a part of the Right at Home – Peninsula team!

Ruth B.

April 2024

Thank you Ruth for your amazing contributions to Right at Home - Peninsula.

In the sweltering heat of Phoenix, Arizona, Ruth's arrival in the year 2000 marked the beginning of a tumultuous journey filled with unexpected twists and turns.

Finding refuge with her older brother, Ruth bore witness to the relentless challenges her family faced, particularly her mother's battle with health issues. It was her mother's unwavering strength in the face of adversity that ignited a flicker of determination within Ruth—a resolve to become her caregiver, a pillar of support through the darkest of days.

However, tragedy struck in January 2005 with her mother's passing, leaving Ruth grappling with grief and uncertainty. Amidst the sorrow, Ruth came to a stark realization: Arizona's harsh climate, with its scorching heat exacerbating her migraines, was no longer a place she could call home.

Encouraged by a friend's suggestion, Ruth set her sights on California, where cooler winds whispered promises of a fresh start. With trepidation and resolve, she ventured into the realm of caregiving, finding solace in the act of nurturing others. Over 23 years, she has put her heart and soul in her work.  Ruth's journey has been one marked by resilience and compassion.

Now, with Right at Home, Ruth embraces the opportunity to continue her calling—a calling born from a place of empathy and a desire to make a difference in the lives of those in need.  She is proud that she gets to work shoulder-to-shoulder with her son, who also shares her passion for caregiving!  Together, they're the dynamic duo!!  We're so proud that they're a part of the Right at Home family.
