Alzheimer's Support Groups
Right at Home – Peninsula is a strong advocate of support groups. These groups present a forum for family caregivers to share their stories, express their frustration and doubts in an environment that provides emotional support to the participants who are quite vulnerable. Owner, Amri Shahpuri, is a facilitator for an Alzheimer's Association Support Group.
Alzheimer's Support Groups
Family members are often thrust into the role as caregiver when a loved one has a chronic illness. Family caregivers have no training besides common sense and they face each day putting one foot in front of the other, doing the best they can.
This is where support groups can help. By providing a safe and private venue where others who living with the same issues can meet, share stories, compare notes on how their loved one is doing, share information about favorite doctors, medications, and symptoms, support groups provide an essential outlet for the family caregiver.
Amri Shahpuri
Alzheimer Association’s Support Group Leader
Amri Shahpuri, owner of Right at Home - Peninsula, brings a wealth of experience and compassion to the Alzheimer’s Support Group she facilitates monthly. With a deep personal connection to Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, Amri has seen firsthand the challenges faced by individuals and families affected by these conditions. Her beloved grandmother lived with dementia, and she was a large part of Amri's childhood. Amri’s motivation to lead the support group stems from a desire to provide a supportive community where people can share experiences, gain knowledge, and find solace. The meetings, held every month, are designed to be a safe space for caregivers, family members, and anyone touched by Alzheimer’s, fostering a sense of understanding and solidarity.

Support That Fits: Care Tailored to Your Needs
But it doesn’t stop at in-home care. We’ve partnered with Palo Alto Commons and Avant, a leading community providing residential memory care services, to create a truly holistic approach to dementia support, combining their expertise with our specialized in-home services. This partnership ensures that no matter where your loved one is—at home or in a facility—they receive consistent, compassionate care. Together, we’re here to reduce the stress of transitions, lower hospital readmission rates, and make life smoother for everyone involved.
Our integrated care model works because it addresses the real challenges families face. Dementia doesn’t just affect the diagnosed individual; it impacts the entire family. That’s why we offer more than just caregiving. We guide families through the emotional and logistical aspects of dementia care, empowering you to make informed decisions while ensuring your loved one receives the best possible support.
