Our Mission

Put simply, our mission is to improve the quality of life for those we serve. Of course, we recognize that everyone’s idea of “quality of life” is different, which is why it’s so important to us to make you an active part of your own care plan. We want you to be in the driver’s seat regardless of any limitations or challenges you’re facing.

Most of all, we believe aging isn’t just about staying healthy, safe and independent. It’s also about living well.

My Great-Aunt Mercedes Taylor – Aunt Mercy – came to live with me when she was 88 years old after she lost her home to Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. She lived with me for 8 years until she passed away at age 96. During that time we frequently traveled outside of the country, dressed up together for Halloween, went to sporting events, plays, and movies, took a hot air balloon ride, had many shopping expeditions, and simply enjoyed life. She was a joy to have around and always had a good story to tell. Having Aunt Mercy at home with me enriched my life and that of my family tremendously. I would not trade the time we had together for anything.

So, it is because of that experience that my husband Bruce and I decided to open a Right at Home franchise, providing in-home care and personal assistance to seniors and people with disabilities. As a busy Ob/Gyn with my own medical practice, I would not have been able to care for Aunt Mercy at home without the help of many wonderful caregivers. This was an extremely valuable and needed service. We want to help Seniors stay in their homes or with their families so they can continue to remain engaged and connected like Aunt Mercy did.

Bruce recently retired from his second career as a high school AP history teacher. Prior to that he had long career in corporate America doing advertising, marketing, communications, and public relations. While Bruce is a history buff and loves teaching, it has been a lifelong dream of his to own a business he is passionate about and that serves his community. After considering many options, Right at Home spoke to his heart. He believes that our seniors are the best teachers of history and should be treasured. Bruce and I live in McKinney, Texas where I have been a resident and practicing physician for over 20 years with Adriatica Women’s Health. Having brought so many new lives in this world, it feels very natural for me to help those in our community navigate their golden years. We have six kids between us—a modern day Brady Bunch. We look forward to taking care of you and your loved ones.

Right at Home’s mission is to improve the quality of life of those we serve. At Right at Home of North Collin, East Denton, and Grayson Counties, we take that one step further by serving with a joyful heart. Our core values are Pride, Reliability, Integrity. Dignity, and Exceeding Expectations (P.R.I.D.E.). We are the right people, doing the right things, the right way, for the right reason. Our care teams are passionate about serving our clients and are committed to providing the personal care and attention of a friend, whenever and wherever it is needed.

Our Philanthropy

Globally, an estimated 70 million people with disabilities have no access to a wheelchair. Those who cannot walk must crawl or be carried to their destination. In collaboration with a network of like-minded partners, Free Wheelchair Mission has distributed more than 1 million wheelchairs to people with disabilities in 93 developing countries around the world, providing renewed dignity, independence and hope through the gift of mobility, at no cost to the recipient.

As an organization, Right at Home's work with Free Wheelchair Mission began in 2016 as the company looked for a partner that would help us further our mission of improving lives worldwide. To date, the Right at Home team's efforts have raised more than $400,000 that has funded over 5,000 wheelchairs, which were distributed through life-changing Vision Trips to Vietnam, Ecuador and Costa Rica.
