Ventura Senior Support Groups

Right at Home owner Phil Chandler facilitates and participates in support groups for people impacted by Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson’s Disease, and Heart Disease. He facilitates two Alzheimer’s support groups, one for families with early stage Alzheimer’s Disease, and the other  for family caregivers with a loved one with more advanced Alzheimer’s Disease:

Alzheimer’s support group at AlmaVia of Camarillo

This support group is for caregivers and family members of those impacted by Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias who are in the later stages of their disease. Our typical meeting has 8 to 12 men and women whose loved one (generally a spouse) has advanced dementia and is living at home with caregiver support or in a facility. The participants support each other with stories and advice. It is a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. If you have a loved one with dementia, please join us.

Location: Alma Via of Camarillo, 2500 N. Ponderosa Drive, Camarillo
Date and time: First & Third Friday of the month 10:00 a.m.– 11:30 a.m.
Facilitator: Phil Chandler

Alzheimer’s support group at Pacific Neuroscience

This support group is for persons with Early Stage Memory Loss & Care Partners. Our typical meeting has 8 to 12 men and women who bring their loved one (generally a spouse) with mild cognitive impairment or memory loss to the meeting. The participants support each other with stories and advice, and is a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. A typical meeting has each participant sharing their story and issues, receiving supportive thoughts from other members. We generate a list of questions for Dr. Sutton who joins the group at the end of the meeting, when available. This is a great opportunity to “Ask a Neurologist” in an informal setting regarding questions you may have about any type of dementia or cutting edge research being conducted at Pacific Neuroscience.
