Homemaker/Companion (Ann Arbor)

Join Ann Arbor's Best Care Team

At Right at Home we have focused on hiring the Right people and getting them the training/skills they need to be successful. We are constantly working to create a positive environment for the people who work on our team. We do spend time and energy matching individual caregivers with clients that fit their abilities and schedules. We treat people with respect, always, and we understand that what we do can be very challenging work. We believe that if we are going to be successful as a team they will be responsible for and share in that success.

Location: Ann Arbor, MI

A Homemaker/Companion provides for the maintenance of a safe and clean environment. Performs various housekeeping tasks, meal preparation and companionship activities for clients in their residences.

Pay Range: $10 - $13/hr

We have a rule that any compliment by a client or fellow health care worker (Dr., Nurse, Hospice Aide, etc.) is immediately passed on to our caregivers. We communicate that praise and share it because recognition is important. We use it as an example for other caregivers on that care team. We believe it is always important to give people positive feed back when they do a good job. We use the care rewards program in the same way - if some one is going above and beyond they get a care rewards bonus. New caregivers with perfect attendance get a Right Start bonus 30 days after they hire in. We also have a tuition assistance program for student caregivers.

We have a caregiver referral program that will pay the referring caregiver a $300.00 bonus over the course of one year for the referral of a qualified caregiver. ($100 @ 90, 180 and 365 days after date of hire)

Training on Ongoing Educational Opportunities

We try whenever possible to personally introduce the caregiver to the client they will be caring for on the first shift - this makes it easier for both the caregiver and client to make a good start. We do follow up with training for caregivers and get feedback from them after they complete the first three shifts with a new client - if they need help in a particular area we get it to them. We do have a group of experienced caregivers who act as mentors for beginners and will provide on the job training to caregivers allowing them to learn the care needs of the client.

There is the opportunity for Alzheimer's/Dementia, Hospice and other specialty care training through the use of RAH University and small group training sessions.
