Tim Petlin, Owner, Right at Home West Los Angeles
Tim was born and raised in Los Angeles and has lived in Santa Monica for the past 10 years. He graduated from Cal State-Northridge before attending grad school at UNC-Chapel Hill, earning two master’s degrees in Business and Health Administration. After spending the past decade working as Director of Operations for United Healthcare, he decided he had the experience to pursue a dream of owning a health care business.
Tim’s mom is a nurse and he has several siblings in the medical field, so he was always attracted to healthcare as a profession. Unfortunately, working for an insurance company meant that he was disconnected from patient care. Right at Home is a more fulfilling experience for Tim because he enjoys having more of a direct impact and seeing the results of helping people.
Tim believes in volunteering and giving back to the community. He and his office staff are always seeking community outreach opportunities – everything from volunteering at assisted living centers, to participating in 5K run/walk fundraisers. Tim works with Team in Training which trains participants for endurance events; in exchange the participants raise funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. For more than 6 years he’s been coaching people on how to do triathlons. His motivation is helping people learn a new sport, get out of their comfort zone and at the same time raise money for a great cause. He’s coached more than 500 people who have raised close to $3 million for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
