Lou Giampa - Owner
Right at Home Westchester is locally owned and operated by Lou Giampa.
In October of 2013, Lou Giampa celebrated his 16-year anniversary of working as a portfolio manager on Wall Street. But that same year, when his grandmother was diagnosed with brain cancer, Giampa said he felt compelled to do something for his ailing relative. That “something” was leaving his Wall Street finance job, getting his Certified Nursing Aide (CNA) certification and becoming a caregiver for his grandmother.
“When I was younger, I had another grandmother who was living in a nursing home, and I used to visit her often,” said Giampa. “Unfortunately, we weren’t happy with the level care that she was receiving in that particular facility. When my other grandmother fell ill about a year ago, we knew that we wanted to give her a different kind of care, and I saw how much better her life could be receiving home care.”

The former Cornell football player said that the time he spent as a NYS-certified nurse’s aide caring for his grandmother, as well as working for seniors with Alzheimer’s, dementia and rehabilitation patients, was an incredibly fulfilling change from the bustle of Wall Street.

“I made a huge life change leaving my job so I could do something that made me happy,” Giampa said. “Caregiving helped alleviate the pressure on my family and ultimately, it was a better option for my grandmother. With Right at Home, I’m now able to give something back to the community and make others happy, too.”
Lou is a New York State (NYS) Certified Nursing Aide (CNA) who volunteers in hospitals and nursing homes throughout Westchester County. He also volunteers with the Alzheimer's Association, Meals on Wheels, the SPRYE group and speaks to the Aging in Place in White Plains community.

Mary Colucci
Director of Client Services
Hobbies: Cooking, Antiquing, Community Volunteer, Gardening
Education: Executive Secretarial/Business Degree
Why I love my job: My career started as an Executive Secretary and then I stayed home for a while to raise my 4 children. I had other administrative positions along the years, but didn’t realize my calling until I applied as an Administrative Assistant for a Geriatric Care Manager (GCM)/Psychotherapist and her team of GCM’s. That position changed my life. It opened the door with the opportunity to not only help others, but also the ability to give the gift of home care services from Right at Home to my own close family members. It changed my life, their lives, and my family’s too.
What I really love the most about my job is the people I have met over the years. Getting to know our clients, and connecting with their families has personally brought me a lot of happiness. What other job can you say that you actually get to make a difference in someone’s life? I also value my relationships with our caregivers and seeing how their selfless care enhance so many lives. My clients, their loved ones, and our caregivers have taught me so many life lessons – grace and strength under adversity, and how the simple things in life are so precious. I never take that for granted.

Why l love my job: In 2008 my grandmother was hospitalized and was in serious condition. When she was discharged she came to live with me and I became her primary caregiver. It was at that point I realized I wanted to go into the geriatric healthcare industry. I can relate firsthand to the care challenges of seniors and their families. I love the opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life and getting to know the different individuals we encounter daily, whether it be the clients or our caregivers. I believe that because I am energetic, upbeat and funny, that I bring a lightness of spirit to each exchange. I listen with my ears and my heart openly.

Rashida Lewis

Hobbies: Dancing, cooking a great meal, reading, and creating new hairstyles
Education: Degree in Computer Information Systems, Westchester Community College, Lehman College
Why I love my job: After working many years as a Systems Analyst, my family encouraged me to consider healthcare since the majority of my family are nurses and doctors. Even though I am passionate about Technology, I listened and took a Home Health aide class and became licensed as a Certified Nurse’s Aide. At that point I realized I have a passion for working with the elderly. Prior to working for Right at Home Westchester, I was the lead house supervisor at an Assisted Living facility in charge of 195 residents, caregivers and medication techs. Working with the elderly made me realize that life is precious and we should always be grateful for what we have because tomorrow is not promised. I love working for Right Home Westchester because the job allows me to have an impact on the lives of people who are at the highest level of need. Every day is different, and I love that I can make a difference in clients and caregivers lives.

Why I love my job: My job is an incredible combination of my past careers all rolled into one. My expertise is in coordinating subsidized home care, conducting client assessments, and state programming. This job position allows me to expand my knowledge of the private sector while applying my learned home care “tools”. I will add, that Right at Home is a company that I had worked in the field with, for years while in Massachusetts, to provide the best home care to the elders. Thus, I am very familiar with the company, its work morale and policies. It is a notoriously reputable company to work for and with.
