I wanted to let you know that the training RAH offered me - continues to effect persons in very positive ways!
My sister and I visited my Mom in Overland Park today, celebrating her - this Mother's Day weekend. Mom fell this morning before either of us arrived. We received a report from staff as to what had happened, and their response. We talked to Mom in the 'usual' manner of ALWAYS using her walker. We ate lunch, went to the Arboretum, returned to facility and took a short nap, and then the three if us went to dinner. During dinner I told my sister about the simulation training I had at work, about the impact it had on me, and how it made me much more aware and empathetic. She listened, very intently and interested, and then a few minutes later said "I am having an epiphany from what you said, Mom is blind on her right side and that was where her walker was parked, she needs to have her walker on the side of her dominant eye!" So we practiced with Mom in her apartment, doing that! My sister said, "tell your boss, that training is still reaping benefits!"
Thank you for enriching my work life, the lives of so many people, and my Momma's life!"
